Ok! So the debut edition of Amplitude is now online. I'm pretty happy with how it went but I'm interested in hearing feedback, ideas, CRITICism, etc. But check out the show before you read any further in this thread. To give an idea of what I was going for, I wanted to provide a style of matches that Fire Pro couldn't really do. I tried to focus more on the personalities of the wrestlers and even introduce some things that may be picked up on during actual Voltage/PPV video matches. I wanted this show to accomplish something that OG-Joshi doesn't already have by adding more personality and storyline flavor in the matches themselves. One of the major issues i was having in deciding on how to do the write ups was how long I wanted the matches to seem. I said from the start that i didn't want to do more then 2-3 paragraphs for most matches but that general limit didn't take into account the actual kayfabe length of the matches. So as I started writing the shows, i had to figure out if I wanted to 1) have short but specific play-by-play matches or 2) talk generally about the matches (with only a few details) and make them seem longer. I chose 1) but I'm interested in what you guys thought of it. In fact, THAT's really my biggest "question" about the show. I think 1) allows me to do what I wanted in terms of portraying specific character during the show. And I also think the shorter but more personality-filled matches generally work for some of the undercard and new wrestlers while allowing them to really show their wrestling prowess on Voltage and PPV's. But I'm worried some of the matches seem TOO short (aside from Yoyo/Diva which i purposefully wanted to be short and painful). But yeah, I wonder what you guys specifically thought about that match strategy and anything else about the show. And I hope you guys enjoyed it

I liked it. Kept a good pace and didn't drag on. Also, gg on the shiny logo. So, who's gonna be the host? Jean? Relm? Ohh... Edgar?

Edgar isn't a bad guess considering I once made him in FPD and actually WAS considering him for the host job!! I actually considered Locke too. (whats also amusing is that im playing FFVI now!) Very glad you liked the pace, it was certainly quicker and more to the point then I usually write Glad you like the logo too, I made it in Pinnacle where i made some of my old OG-FPD logos As for the host, I have something in mind but it probably won't be permanent. But it should work with some of the other stories I'm getting into. The host will be a new character I'll be introducing so stay tuned P.S. Sorry about Diva's face ;D

Amplitude pretty much was meant to be a companion show to Voltage - and, really, it hit those points pretty well.
Number 1 would be the best way to go - let the women stand out for themselves, focus on the match and that sort of things.

Cool Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed how it went That's how I see the show too, as a companion show to Voltage and PPV's that is meant to give us a different perspective of the wrestlers that video matches simply can't give. Things like the KENTA mask or an actual run-in (that doesnt require in-game contrived battle royale set-up shenanigans!) What I'd really like to do is to show off specific elements of characters and feuds that will then help to add some intrigue and story to the video matches and general directions that those wrestlers are in down the line. So yeah, its still a work in progress I think, but I think its headed down the right path so far

So the first "independent" Amplitude has been posted. Hope you guys like the format. This is my attempt to make shorter summaries for write-ups rather then "play by play" and I think it worked out pretty decently. I wanted to focus mainly on the story of the match and the characters themselves rather then the actual blow for blow sequences. But I still tried to touch on some of the more important turning points in the matches. Definitely a work in progress but I enjoyed writing this show a lot. Very low pressure and FUN I'm still figuring out what I want to do for Voltage. I was fortunate last night in getting 3 great video matches. But I'm not sure if I'm gonna stick to "videos for Voltage" and "text for 'Tude" as a rule as I kinda want to do some text work for Voltage as well. So what I may do is give each Voltage match one or two tries to see if I get what I want right away (usually "certain winner") but go to text if I don't. Some matches I'm gonna go for text right away though. I guess I'll try to keep things flexible but that may result in an odd mix of matches/text for some shows. PPV's will remain all video for the most part.

If I might make one suggestion - why not use different boards for Amplitude and Voltage shows, to further display the split in shows? And then a separate board for PPVs, too.

Ok, I'm glad you said that. I was thinking about doing just that a few hours ago but didn't know if it would be needless sub-organization (of which I'm often known for). But now I'll go ahead and do something similar as to what I did with the UBL League board Thanks for the advice

The new Amplitude is posted - THIS IS THE THREAD TO CALL ME AN ASSHOLE FOR NOT USING YOUR CHARACTER OR SOMETHING.
Also, questions on stuff.

I already gave my feedback to Joe but I just wanted to mention here how I felt he did exactly what I wanted him to do with Amplitude and already established a brand new feel and style for the show: one unique (and great! "Unique" itself isn't enough, LOL, just look at Furis...) in comparison to Voltage. I hope everyone else enjoyed it too. Obviously not every character can be used on every show (Voltage either) so I don't think anyone will get too upset about that. If anyone has any feedback about how their character was used/could be used in the future, feel free to put it here or PM him about it I definitely enjoyed this show but regrettably my Basic-compatible monitor has now been loop'd

Other than one small problem (the match results BEFORE the description), I liked it.

Other than one small problem (the match results BEFORE the description), I liked it. Now, Geese actually brought this up to me while he was editing it. Is this a problem you guys feel like a huge detractor, or does it seem to you like a stylistic difference? Like, "Its weird, but we think we can get used to it" or is it a "MAN THIS SUCKS I HATE YOU FOREVER JOE" kind of thing?

Now, Geese actually brought this up to me while he was editing it. Is this a problem you guys feel like a huge detractor, or does it seem to you like a stylistic difference? Like, "Its weird, but we think we can get used to it" or is it a "MAN THIS SUCKS I HATE YOU FOREVER JOE" kind of thing? For me, it varies depending on the match, total sliding scale here. If you are doing a comedy match or a quick match where its pretty clear who will win, then its like a non-issue to me. In fact, in comedy matches its sometimes even FUNNIER to read "Furis loses in 2 seconds" and then find out how it happened after. Its almost like a challenge to make the match itself even funnier then the short result. So in those cases, I'm cool with it or at least, don't feel strongly either way. But if you're doing more of a big match write-up with serious stuff, its a much bigger issue to me. When you do the big write-up (and I mean you specifically), its serious business and always f'n rules. But when you put the results first, it detracts from that epic build of such a match since we already know who wins and any 2.9's or teases kinda lose a bit of their luster. Granted this is still a work so we can "appreciate" the match for those teases but i think it would be more fun to leave the result til the end. Especially for matches where it really is kind of a shock or at least super competitive. We can get more into it if we don't quite know who wins til the very end. Plus this can REALLY hurt surprise angles by telegraphing them. If we see "Sandy Morton defeats Haley Cannon" we're immediately gonna think some MAJOR shenanigans happened and so the very fact that there are shenanigans is telegraphed. When I brought up the issue to you earlier, you said you wanted to focus more on the story then the match itself and I TOTALLY agree with that sentiment. (thats part of the reason I wanted you writing Amplitude!) But I think in some cases, the story itself could be hurt a bit by giving away the ending first and telegraphing angles or a huge win. That said, I would like to hear from others as well on this. I agree with Raven but perhaps Moto thinks you're approach is King's Road of awesomeness and DK thinks that results should just be given through interpretive dance. So let's keep this discussion going before we come to a tentative agreement P.S. This isn't really as huge an issue as that post made it out to be and I didn't make a big deal about it earlier cause I didn't think it affected this specific Amplitude show. This is really more of a discussion for future matches, especially big ones. As I already told you, i freaking LOVED the show today ;D ;D

Good show. Blast back kudos all around.
I gotta agree with OctRaven on this one; in the future, having the finish be posted could ruin reading the match a bit.

You made a programming joke. Therefore, I love you. In a manly, platonic sort of way.
I do agree, however, with what seems to be the prevailing opinion: While it didn't particularly spoil anything on this show, I'd be wary in the future of having match results come before the matches themselves. Especially, as Geese mentioned, if and when we start to get into the legendary "Epic Match Territory" on Amplitude.
