Jo Ryder - "Short Promo" (3/2/05)
-Open upon an office, dully lit – the early morning twilight peers through the drawn venetian blinds, and cast a glow upon the pair of occupants in this office. The woman sitting behind the mahogeny desk, Jo Ryder, sips from a coffee cup, while the unidentified male sitting in a child’s chair in front of it (Little Bratz brand, the kind with multi-colored legs) – shifts about uncomfortably.-
[Jo Ryder:] “Phil, please… make yourself comfortable.”
-The man – Phil – shifts about, glaring at Jo as he does so… she laughs a little and stands, sliding a more appropriate chair forward for him to use, which he does, readily.-
[Phil:] “When did you become such a joker?”
[Jo Ryder:] “I find it a useful tool for putting shame upon the boys when they misbehave. Team Ryder is… well, I guess you could compare it to a family – you, Phil, being the “big brother” who helps the “mother” – myself – out in a pinch. And sometimes, a “mother” needs to be creative in punishment…”
[Phil:] “Uh… right. Anyways. You wanted me up this early for what reason now?”
[Jo Ryder:] “I wanted to hear the results of your research on my opponents for the OG-FPD Murderer’s Row show.”
[Phil:] “You haven’t done your own?”
[Jo Ryder:] “Alright, I want an alternative opinion to my own – that much should be simple for you.”
[Phil:] “Okay, let’s start with Holly-“
[Jo Ryder:] “I don’t see a threat there. At all. Just another girl who can talk big, but SUDDENLY thinks she has claims to being the Queen of Pro Wrestling. You?”
[Phil:] “Dark horse. If you’re not careful, she’ll pin you – that’s about all she’s really good at, surprise pins. Has a bit of talent using submissions, but if it goes to the mat, you’ve got the advantage, because we all have seen your work on your bac-“
[Jo Ryder:] “Please. I get enough of that from Holly lately that is ceases to be ‘cute’ when you do it. Next, Diane “Dizzy” Cavuto.”
[Phil:] “If I had to pick a winner… I’d back the unknown in this one. Neither of you seem to be taking her seriously, a mistake considering her history. I don’t know if she was REALLY trained by that McLanahan guy, but if she was, she might’ve picked up his habit of surprise wins over better wrestlers.”
[Jo Ryder:] “There’s a reason I considered signing her to Team Ryder…”
[Phil:] “Considered? You’ve changed your mind?”
[Jo Ryder:] “If she wins the OG-FPD Joshi Championship, that’ll make her a bit more experienced – she’ll be hard headed towards change. I haven’t seen her wrestle yet, but, let’s assume she needs growth. Let’s rule Dizzy out for signing to Team Ryder; perhaps she’ll enjoy a slot on the Team Ryder Expo shows instead.”
[Phil:] “…really?”
[Jo Ryder:] “I’m not sure. I’ll need more time to think. Arrange for a meeting with Miss Cavuto, would you please? We’ll need to discuss these matters…”
-and the scene goes black, fading out…-
