I'm here to talk about OG-FPD: "Orochi Geese's Fantasy ProWrestling Dream."
That's a mouthful, huh? Even the acronym is clunky. If "OG-FPD" was a weapon in a game, you'd need 2 equipment slots to wield it. If I knew what it would become, I would have worked harder on the name.
It's so literal yet so overboard
Maybe "overboard" is fitting though given what the promotion became. Even this post is a little bit much so far, right?
But I'm here to celebrate something. On the night of December 13, 2003, I made a website to better organize and publicly share events from my growing "OG-FPD" fantasy universe within Fire Pro. That date marks the creation of OG-FPD as an individual promotion (which ended in 2007). More importantly to me, that date has come to mark the term "OG-FPD" as the name of the "umbrella" world that contains OG-Joshi, L.A.W.L, and UBL. OG-FPD turns 20 today.
That is insane to me. I can recall the exact night I made that website and I just never, ever imagined it would lead to three promotions (four, if you count "Prestige PayWall Wrestling" ... but no one does.) Find me a more slippery slope than e-fed participation! You get involved in one group promotion (GWF/PW-W) and then you carve out a little niche for yourself as well. Next thing you know, that niche becomes a leviathan of thought, time, and emotional investment.
Not one second of regret. Not one. This place represents and speaks for me in some ways that RL simply can not.
Even though OG-Joshi and UBL remain enmeshed in barely canonical shenanigans for the foreseeable future, I still wanted to do something to mark the occasion of twenty years passing for this project.
I capped six matches that are completely non-canon. They are even less canonical than Canon Spike/Loose Canon. I'm talking a status of canonicality that is so low, the economy is being hurt by you choosing to watch these matches rather than ones of significance. You can forget the results tomorrow. But, for today, why not check them out?
These matches are meant to be semi-representative of main wrestlers and rivalries of the past 20 years. There are a lot of wrestlers that were an integral part of the OG-FPD who aren't featured on this show. Many of the handlers that helped lay the foundation for this place have left the community and didn't make the transition to FPW. Therefore, I felt weird featuring their older FPR edits that were converted to my FPW save but never fully adapted to the game. (Haley Cannon is an exception to that rule cause DR gave me permission to take over her character.)
If you are now or were ever a handler in my promotions or a fan, I sincerely thank you. OG-FPD wouldn't be the same without you. Without the input, urging, and ideas of some of you, the individual promotions may literally not even exist without you. And they may not have returned after I briefly retired in 2011 without you. I still find it hard to believe that this project has gone on for two decades but I know for a fact this wouldn't have happened without all of you.
I hope that I can continue doing whatever it is that I do to draw in such incredibly creative, passionate, and fun people to OG-FPD. Thank you for the patience and trust you have shown in me with your energy, time, and characters.
