"Date with Destiny" - OG-FPD 11th Anniversary Show - 12/13/14
*The camera fades in to a jam packed (there are people dressed as assorted jellies and jams) LAWLItorium where we see a familiar but unexpected face on commentary: Destiny's own public relations leader, Ruby Moreno. She smiles at the camera.*
[Ruby:] "Welcome to 'Date with Destiny.' It brings me great honor and satisfaction to be the voice of the 11th OG-FPD Anniversary Show, funded this year by Destiny. Tonight we will witness the best wrestlers in the world competing under the OG-FPD banner. OG-Joshi and LAWL roster members will mix together in matches and you will see all of our current Champions competing.
There have been a lot of polarizing reactions to the 'power play' that we have pulled in claiming an OG-FPD Anniversary event under the Destiny name. I have already made my argument for why we have every right to fly the OG-FPD banner high. After all, OG-Joshi was Orochi Geese's second promotion and he once funded LAWL too. UBL was not even an apple in his eye back when OG-Joshi was the promotion that occupied the majority of his time. So for those, over seas, who take issue at our claims, revisit history and understand your limited place in it.
However, in the interest of good will and celebration, that is all I will say on that matter. Tonight comes with no agenda other than entertainment and honoring the wrestlers on this roster. This is a great opportunity for Destiny to show we harbor nothing but positive thoughts for the industry and world. We have seven historic matches for you with five Championships on the line.
And while I will be providing commentary, I do not wish to weigh you down with painstaking analysis that requires copious note taking by the viewer as some other promotions do. Instead, I will simply be previewing each match in a few sentences and let the action speak for itself.
In other words, the 'foreplay' on this date will be limited.
*Ruby blows a kiss to the camera*
[Ruby:] "Our first match may be somewhat of a surprise to the fans outside our arena. In the time since the last broadcast and DVD distributed LAWL event, the Jiminez Sisters lost their A/S/L Tag Titles to a rival sister team of Marie and Grace Reyes. Tonight, the Reyes put their Titles up against any team in the locker room that challenges them. Marie and Grace, looking 'sophisticated' as always, are already in the ring. Some people know the value of making big entrances more than others. On the plus side, Marie has fully regained consciousness from her defeat at the hands of The Summit after our victory over her and Thunder Strike at Destiny Drive. Small victories, Marie!"
*"Step Up" by Drowning Pool plays as Lynn "Lina" Malloy" comes out to absolutely thunderous applause. She takes a few moments to soak in the adulation but shakes her head with a sigh when she sees fans live tweeting the event.
Other fans start chanting: "Who's your partner" *clap clap clapclapclap*
A member of the ring crew hands her a microphone but she pushes it away and merely smirks. Mere moments later, THIS woman comes out and stands by Lina's side. Eris Byrne, the long time reigning and undefeated OG-Joshi Amplitude Champion, is in the building, folks.
This crowd is shocked into silence as the two long time OG-Joshi arch-rivals have joined forces to compete for LAWL Tag Team gold.*
[Ruby:] "Isn't this an interesting development. I wonder how long they had this in the works. Some destinies are unknown, after all."
Match #1: A/S/L Title: HAVOC vs. REYES UP! (c)
Lina/Eris Byrne vs. Marie Reyes/Grace Reyes
[Ruby:] "And we turn next to a defense by one of the longest reigning Champions on either roster. Lucy Cutlass has held her 1337 Title since April of 2008. Say what you want about her personality and pirate self-identification disorder, but her in ring methods get results. She is up against Rachel Sky, a young woman who impressed me with her moxie in her recent bout with Hae-Won at a Matsuki Mobile show. By the way, remember to download special Destiny holiday ring tones whenever you come across a Matsuki Mobile wi-fi store."
*Ruby deadpans then smirks.*
[Ruby:] "Rachel has competed primarily on the OG-Joshi roster but I am giving her this opportunity since Eris told me a few weeks ago that she would not be defending her Amplitude Title tonight. While we certainly understand why that is now, I gave her latitude as she is a fighting Champion. Lucy Cutlass should provide a similar level of competition and I think you are all in for an enjoyable match."
Match #2: LAWL 1337 Championship: Rachel Sky vs. Lucy Cutlass (c)
[Ruby:] "Dare I say this too early, but that may have been the match of the night. At the very least, it will probably be more traditional than the next match. I won't even try to set this next one up. There are eight 'things' in it, some of them are truly horrifying.
I don't know why Yoshi Hattori volunteered for this match as she is capable of much more. Years ago, I spent nearly a month on a deal that freed her from Miss Matsuki's contract and I hoped she would have made more of herself in the interim. As I believe Orochi-O's Mr. Clyde was fond of saying, you can lead a ninja to water, but you can't make them inject it with a poison to assassinate his enemies. I suppose that's why he left the sense of humor to his colleague. For those without any sense of humor, skip this match."
Match #3: OG-Jokey RoyaLAWL
Yuri vs. DARKNESS! Diva vs. Keina vs. Yoshi Hattori vs. Patricia Jackson vs. Patata Frita Verde vs. Snow Woman vs. Platano Cascara
[Ruby:] "As I promised, one of our male Destiny members would be providing a palette cleanser in the middle of the show. And, after the last match, I think a ritual cleansing is necessary more than ever. Luckily, we have just the man to help take us through the steps.
Joachim and I decided that Matthias was the right choice since the rest of our group competed at Destiny Drive. I reached out to wrestlers around the world to see who would challenge him but there were very few takers. Clearly, the size, strength, achievements, and faith of Matthias were too intimidating for the vast majority of athletes in the world. However, one man stood up and took us up on the challenge. There is not that much known about this man given that his original promotion is now defunct. He has a sizable base of fans in Europe where he has toured over the last few years. Frankly, I think he just wants the work and has bitten off more than he can chew here. But we believe in giving people opportunities when others in the world doubt them, as we understand what that feels like. So let him prove his worth."
*Matthias is patiently waiting in the ring, penitent and prayerful, as his opponent is set to join him.
Iron Maiden's "Ghost of the Navigator" plays on the speakers as Brandr Hoff comes out onto the entrance stage. The fans that know him are incredibly excited, but are also in the minority. Hoff shouts something in Norwegian and charges down the ramp into the ring. Many of his fans shout "War Brandr!" which seems to give him supernatural Viking strength, or mild indigestion.*
Match #4: Destiny Challenge: Matthias vs. Brandr Hoff
*Ruby nods her head while tapping her fingernails on the desk.*
[Ruby:] "That was very...informative. It will certainly result in conversation, at the minimum. All right, let's shift our attention to a couple of old 'friends' of mine. Humility is not a trait that I am resistant to and honesty is required to discuss this match.
Visper Karr is the current OG-Joshi World Champion and she won it from me in 2011 at OG-FPD Immortal in a Battle Royale, after I had defeated her earlier that year in a one on one match. Jenny McLanahan defeated me for my LAWL OMG Title years ago, and then lost that title to Kat Black at Immortal. I will say this - I respect both women. They won their matches cleanly and I wouldn't put any stock in the Titles I won if they were not defended against women like those two. Am I their superior? Yes, without a doubt. But not better by enough that I can discount or disrespect them. Jenny is of particular value to me given the way she ended my year long streak as OMG Champion.
As for Lana, I believe she is an old friend of Jo Ryder. Jo was a mentor to both Visper and Jenny, as well as the woman who helped put LAWL on the map when we faced each other years ago. I won that match and was the first of the current generation to defeat Jo Ryder. All three of these women know each other very well due to the McLanahan-Ryder family connection. All three of these women are fierce competitors who won't let any friendship or alliances stand in the way of them trying to win the OG-Joshi World Championship. Prepare for a very fierce match. I look forward to facing the winner once my arm heals from the cowardly attack inflicted upon me last month."
Match #5: OG-Joshi World Championship: Jenny McLanahan vs. Lana vs. Visper Karr (c)
[Ruby:] "Kat Black's reign as LAWL OMG Champion has been constant and unchallenged. But tonight one of her former friends and tag partners returns to the ring after a long hiatus. Kim Cross had a wave of momentum before she strangely disappeared a year or so before OG-Joshi was sold to me. While I believe the atmosphere of harassment in OG-Joshi, especially the sexually tinged commentary, contributed to her time away from the ring, the fact is that she is back now and still a very skilled competitor. This match may be difficult for Kat due to their past tag team and shared friends. I have no doubt that at least one household will be hearing awful things screamed at the television tonight during this match. We, at Destiny, do not support the objectification of women and hope that LAWL and OG-Joshi fans share our views."
Match #6: LAWL OMG CHAMPIONSHIP: Kim Cross vs. Kat Black (c)
[Ruby:] "I granted the main event slot for this match because these two teams have been gearing up for this match over the last few months. The Hellions have been on an international role but their exploits in OG-Joshi over the last few years have not been told or appreciated. They have been the top contenders, waiting for me to grant them a Title shot. The Reed Sisters have been Champions since well before OG-Joshi was sold to me. They were on their way to becoming the hottest joshi tag team in the world but, unfortunately, the rug was pulled out from underneath them due to politics. They have not lost the Titles but it is unclear if they still have their ability to rally and win. Some of the matches that these two have wrestled in were match of the year votes in OG-Joshi. The fans took a particular liking to Harmony Reed's spirit and Melody's technical expertise. They are up against the journey-woman team of the world right now, in a stable that has already seen Sun & Moon dominate the male tag team scene over the last few years. Can the team of 2011 defend against the team of 2014? Let's find out."
Match #7: OG-Joshi Tag Team Championship: Hellions vs. Reed Sisters (c)
Hae-Won/Sako Dasumi vs. Melody Reed/Harmony Reed
[Ruby:] "After seeing this incredible match, I think I may have spoken too soon when I declared Rachel vs. Lucy to be the match of the night, although one can certainly have reasonable debate on the matter.
In either case, it is clear that this show was a success and a fitting tribute to OG-FPD's legacy. Now do you all see what Destiny can do? Who else could put on a show like this that takes the best from OG-Joshi and LAWL and brings it into the future? Who else could effortlessly create a card that produces such memorable matches and entertainment? UBL doesn't have a monopoly on OG-FPD's legacy any more than Orochi Geese himself has. Legacies are meant to live on, and only those currently active in the world of professional wrestling can lay claim to that ability. Just as you can't claim credit for the success of FPCPP World Champion, Allen Riggs, you also can't live off of our achievements when you are sitting at home doing nothing but hiding. Destiny is the new legacy, Geese. I hope tonight made it easier for you to acclimate to reality as it is rather than how you wish it to be. Destiny is OG-Joshi. Destiny is LAWL. Destiny is OG-FPD. And Destiny will soon be UBL.
*Ruby switches tone and a cheerful smile appears on her face.*
[Ruby:] "Thank you all for joining us. Happy Holidays and New Year wishes from Destiny! And a very Happy Anniversary to the OG-FPD."
*The show fades as Ruby's cheerful smiles turns into a darker smirk.*
