*We're brought into the living room of the Moreno family in Los Angeles, California. It is a few minutes after their traditional Sunday dinner and Rose lounges on the couch while her father Jack sits in his easy chair with a beer watching football. Rose eyes him intently, wanting to strike up a conversation but not knowing exactly how to do it.*
[Jack:] "You've been bolder lately, don't stop on my account. I know what you want to talk about tonight, what you waited til after dinner to do so that it wouldn't upset mom. So go right ahead, you've got your audience."
*Rose smiles at her father's intuition and steels herself.*
[Rose:] "Dad, what should I do about the match?"
[Jack:] "The Coach say you're good enough, right?"
[Rose:] "Yeah."
*Jack puts down the beer and looks her straight in the eye.*
[Jack:] "Then win that World Title and don't look back for one second."
*Jack's eyes are as determined as Rose has seen them in years.*
[Rose:] "That's what mom told you when you used to wrestle. Even when you fought against."
*Rose pauses, not wanting to cause her father any pain.*
[Jack:] "That's right, she did. It was even harder for her to say cause she knew who I was facing. He and I were closer then Ruby and you ever were. But if I could get in that ring and stare him down, you can do the same thing. That's how I raised you, after all."
[Rose:] "I know. But you also raised me to turn the other cheek. And as hard as it was growing up with her, as much as she tormented me, as much as she tried to hold me down, I knew physical retaliation wasn't the answer."
[Jack:] "Correct. But this opportunity isn't about retaliation. You aren't doing this to stop her from holding you down. She's already failed. Now you get in that ring to be Champion no matter who you are facing. The fact that Ruby in gonna be across the ring from you is just a coincidence. This is a wrestling match, not a shared bunk bed. And you have two others in that match as well. From what you told me about their abilities, you can't afford to allow your mind to drift and let the past with Ruby affect you."
[Rose:] "It's just, so much is on the line. Have you been following the UBL at all?"
[Jack:] "It's not to my tastes. But your mother told me enough about the reason this overall show is happening. So I know about the owner and his girlfriend's brother and the horses they rode in or whatever that's all about."
*Rose laughs.*
[Rose:] "But their situation is not so different then Ruby and I. Geese doesn't want to hurt Kyle mainly cause that would hurt Holly. I don't want to hurt Ruby cause it would hurt you guys, especially mom. And, I don't want to hurt anyone."
[Jack:] "You don't have to. It's a regular pro wrestling match, not one of those newfangled "death" matches. And the World Title should be the only thing on everyone's mind. That's why I could never watch the UBL. Way too many people wanting to hurt each other or get personal. That's not what wrestling was about in Big Time Wrestling back in the day."
[Rose:] "I know. But...what if Ruby tries to hurt me? What should I do?"
[Jack:] "You defend yourself and kick her butt. Maybe slap her hard enough that she comes to her senses with that Destiny sh*t."
*Jack blushes.*
[Jack:] "Sorry, honey. I didn't mean to curse."
[Rose:] "It's understandable. We all know what they did."
*Jack winces and then Rose does the same. An awkward pause leads them both to stop talking for a few minutes. But Jack takes another sip from his beer and sits up further in his chair.*
[Jack:] "And you can deal those bastards a blow from us by winning that match. You show her how wrong she was to betray her own family and get mixed up in that Destiny nonsense by beating her right in the middle of that ring. Or at least making sure she doesn't leave as Champion. You already got in her way once, you can do it again. Now, she's like a bear."
[Rose:] "A bear?"
[Jack:] "She's more scared of you then you are of her."
*Rose laughs.*
[Jack:] "Mother and I will always be proud of you, Rose. You've proven your character out of the ring and your abilities inside it. No matter what happens, you take pride in the fact that you are in the final OG-Joshi match ever, and for their highest Championship. You obviously made a big impression on some good people over there and are a part of their legacy now."
[Rose:] "I still don't feel worthy of being in that match."
[Jack:] "Then you make yourself worthy by what you'll do when you're there. Don't back down from the opportunity because you don't think you deserve it. Become deserving of it. Heck, I haven't watched any wrestling for years, let alone gone to an event. But mother and I will be in the crowd that night cheering our hearts out for you!"
[Rose:] "I'm really looking forward to introducing you to Coach Carter."
[Jack:] "We'll be glad to be there. But I'm sure we won't be the only ones with ties to your sister, so we all have to be careful. I know New York City has a rat problem but the Destiny vermin that will be there will require the place to be fumigated."
*Rose laughs again but more softly this time.*
[Rose:] "Jean told me that one of her friends, Mr. Clyde, would be patrolling the live crowd in the general area of your seats. He's already stopped Ruby and Destiny before. So I know you two will be safe."
[Jack:] "And you?"
[Rose:] " I don't think they'd attack me. I already told Ruby her secrets are safe with me provided she doesn't pull anything."
[Jack:] "I hate to say this but I don't trust her. So you just stick to your friends in the locker room. We'll meet up after the show. Just make sure you tell Ruby that if any of her Destined goons intentionally run into me and mom, I'm knocking them out one by one. They want to see a guiding light, they can see the reflection of their eyes in my ring."
*Jack punches into his open hand.*
[Rose:] "I think she already knows that. She's not that far gone, Dad. She'd never authorize you or Mom to be hurt."
[Jack:] "Well, I think she's more worried about you right now, then me anyway. And she should be."
*Jack holds out his hand and Rose takes it as the two enter an arm wrestling contest. Jack puts up mild resistance but lets Rose win as the two share a laugh and look of confidence as we fade out.*
[Jack:] "You've been bolder lately, don't stop on my account. I know what you want to talk about tonight, what you waited til after dinner to do so that it wouldn't upset mom. So go right ahead, you've got your audience."
