Of Coaches and Quests

(Note: This RP happens a few days before the "Matsuki Acquisitions" RP in the official story lines. Since this one is less jovial in nature and quite a bit more emotional then Matsuki's, I wanted to wait a bit longer to post this after the big news last week.)
*It's about an hour after the shocking events and implications of the "OrochiGeese funeral" show and we see Jean Carter and Luke Kisiera sitting in the OG-Joshi Coach's office. The two just seem to be staring into space. Jean goes to say something but is too choked up. She clears her throat and waits a few seconds as Luke politely turns his attention away to give her time to recover.*
[MJC:] "I mean...we already knew it. I had like a month to prepare for this but now, it's so..."
[Luke:] "Final."
[MJC:] "Yep..."
[Luke:] "And..."
[MJC:] "Now all of this *motions around the room* won't ...be."
*Luke senses Jean starting to crack and changes the subject.*
[Luke:] "Um, I noticed Ruby approached you after the show."
*The diversion paid off, which is no surprise when Luke sets one up.*
[MJC:] "Yeah. It was weird too. She acted like the last year didn't even happen."
[Luke:] "I never pegged her as the fake type."
[MJC:] "It wasn't that though. It was like...she was afraid to say anything that might upset me. Like she was trying as hard to be nice to me as possible. It's hard to tell but I think that Rose got into her head. And if it wasn't for that, Ruby may not have made a deal with Geese."
[Luke:] "I guess, overall, that's a good thing. But, it doesn't necessarily feel like it."
[MJC:] "Even without Ruby in the picture, Geese was gonna find a wealthy buyer so he could get enough money to cure Holly. But you're totally right, OG-Joshi really could have gone to a better place. I was kinda hoping NDP would buy us. Visper has a strong connection there and they don't pull shenanigans like Ruby does. There's also Dragon Isle Joshi, Estrella, and Glitter that could have been great feds for us to merge with. But now, Ruby gets our lineage. Destiny gets it."
[Luke:] "Well, you have been saying this whole year that the Championship and lineage aren't the most important things here. And you were going to refuse Ruby's demands at Destiny Unknown, even if it meant her taking the Title. That's cause you know it's the wrestlers and competitive spirit that make OG-Joshi what it is. And those same wrestlers can choose to go anywhere they want now. They don't have to go to the new OG-Joshi if they feel uncomfortable. They don't have to obey Ruby's orders, just like you didn't. Geese was right, Jean. OG-FPD and its legacy is immortal because the best of your roster will go on to influence other wrestling promotions throughout the world."
[MJC:] "Same with UBL!"
[Luke:] "Uh yeah.. And I'm really glad that Drake is going to work with Arthur."
*Luke smiles but doesn't quite commit to the personal response Jean wanted.*
[MJC:] "Well they've kinda reconnected the last few months and Arthur realizes what a great job Drake has done with UBL as Sergeant. But Ruby and I, there's no way we can ever work together. I'm done, Luke. OG-Joshi and I are done. We're done...we're just done.-"
*Once again, Luke notices Jean starting to get very emotional and tries to deflect it.*
[Luke:] "So Ruby wasn't being nice to try to get you to stay on in some role?"
[MJC:] "She said that even though she appreciates my energy and passion, my priorities make me incompatible with the Destiny vision for OG-Joshi."
*The two go back to silence. Luke clears his throat as if he was going to say something but can't seem to find the words yet. Finally, as Jean reaches for a tissue, looking to finally start the 'waterworks', Luke stands up and looks at her.
You can almost hear midi music in the background.*
[Luke:] "Well, Jean... if you're done, I'm done."
*MJC looks at Luke with shock.*
[MJC:] "But...you've trained so hard! Please don't do this just for me!"
[Luke:] "Not just for you. I'm doing it for us. It's a fresh start, Jean. Destiny won't accept you and the new UBL doesn't need me. Arthur isn't always so easy to talk to but he's not gonna tolerate the roster violence that Geese allowed or Jinchuu brought. He'll fire someone like Kyle on the spot and get Scotland Yard on their case before anything goes wrong. So someone like me..."
[MJC:] "Someone with the heart of a hero-"
[Luke:] "Someone like that is ready to give all his heart to you, Jean."
[Luke:] "I said someone like that is ready to give all his heart to you, Jean."
*MJC runs over and jumps into Luke's arms. She begins crying but only half out of sorrow.*
[Luke:] "I know you miss your family in the mid west. And with UBL leaving New York, there won't be too many of our friends that will be staying here anyway. I'm sure Matt will go to England. Barton will. Goro will. There's nothing and nobody keeping us here."
[MJC:] "So...I can go home and you'll go with me?"
[Luke:] "I'd follow you to the ends of the earth...and to the sequel."
*MJC was still crying a bit and didn't hear that last part.*
[MJC:] "Hmm?"
[Luke:] "You're good people."
[MJC:] "Darn tootin! You too! But, what will we do?"
[Luke:] "Some of my friends are starting a software company and asked me if I wanted to join. Last month I was ready to say no but for some reason I told them I'd think about it. I'm glad I waited cause this is just the opportunity we could use right now."
[MJC:] "Software? What kind?"
*A slightly louder midi theme plays as Luke smiles.*
[Luke:] "Computer games. And I just so happen to have an idea for a game based on pro wrestling."
Score: 360 degrees out of Full Circle.
*MJC looks excited.*
[MJC:] "Ooh can I be in it?"
*Luke smiles as widely as he ever has.*
[Luke:] "It couldn't exist without you. And neither could I."
*Luke puts his arm around Jean and they stay like this for afew frames of animation minutes. The reader is encouraged to imagine them just holding each other while midi music may or may not be playing. After about five minutes, Jean checks her watch.*
[MJC:] "Oooh, we should see how everyone is doing. Drake told us to stop by his office in an hour."
[Luke:] "Time for a reunion. But before we leave, do you want a few seconds here...alone?""
*Jean kisses Luke again, quite thankful at the gesture. Luke exits the room, giving Jean a few seconds alone in her soon to be former office. She looks around at the different areas, from the window that had been broken and entered on numerous occasions to the stain on the wall that was where Furis' head was driven into by Geese. She looks at the couch where she and Luke had their first real kiss (meaning Luke stayed conscious) and at her desk where she presided as Coach for over a year. After a few seconds of deep thought, she nods with a smile as a tear rolls down her face. She shuts the light off, says "goodbye, Coach" and closes the door.
Luke takes her hand and the two walk down the hall to hte UBL section of the Arena.*
