*Coach 'Mean' Jean Carter is sitting at her desk in her OG-Joshi office across from UBL Sergeant Drake Yoshida.*
[MJC:] "Thanks for coming by, Drake. I'm just...so frazzled right now."
[Drake:] " As bad as things are in UBL, you have every right to be taken off guard with how Moreno is handling herself."
[MJC:] "The worst part is...and, please, don't take this as disrespect to Geese, but Ruby really is a better wrestler then Holly. When Holly pulled stunts like this, I just wanted her out of here cause she really wasn't worth the trouble. But with Ruby's talent and the way she elevated LAWL, she really could bring us into a new era just like she is promising. But first she has to start acting responsibly."
[Drake:] "And so you can't look at each of her traits separately: they form one person. You said that Holly behaved similarly but not even she insisted on having an entire PPV named after her. And yet, she probably could have pulled that off with Geese's influence. It says something to me that not only is Ruby holding your World Title hostage, she's also making that very fact the centerpiece of your biggest event this year."
[MJC:] "What...what does it say?"
[Drake:] "That Ruby is far more arrogant then Holly ever could be and that she truly has no intention of doing what you feel is the right thing."
*At this, Jean looks a little surprised and furrows her brow.*
[MJC:] "What do you mean I feel? You think I actually should fire Rose?"
[Drake:] "I don't think the question is 'should you do what Ruby says', but rather, 'should you be honest with her' considering how she deceived everyone here. Above all, you should be the one making the ultimatums, not her."
[MJC:] "I'm kinda confused!"
*Drake sighs and takes a deep breath.*
[Drake:] "I don't mean to second guess you here, Jean. Even though I feel like I've helped mentor you, this is your promotion to control right now. But you did ask my opinion and I've been thinking this over ever since Ruby 'invaded' OG-Joshi.
But as good as Ruby is, she's not perfect. No one is. You and I disagree as to the extent of Holly's abilities since I give her more credit based on the experience I have watching pro wrestling. But even with what I see as her great talent and influence in OG-Joshi, she still legitimately lost her Title and failed to regain it when you came to power. And that was with Geese keeping her from being put in bad situations.
But Ruby has no such leverage here. Her only power comes from the one thing she could lose if she keeps putting it on the line: her World Title. And we've already seen her high willingness to defend it. She isn't anywhere near as stingy with Title defenses as Holly was. So as a result of Ruby's own obsession with proving her superiority, her power over OG-Joshi is tenuous and finite. Visper almost beat her without knowing who she was and Kaori almost beat her too. And Narai, a relative rookie, almost took the Title this weekend. Ruby is beatable, Jean."
[MJC:] "So, if I'm understanding you...you think I should just 'wait this out' and lie to Ruby in the meantime?"
[Drake:] "Yes and it should be easy. After all, you shocked me last year."
*Jean looks confused again.*
[MJC:] "I...I did? How?"
[Drake:] "You managed to sign a Moreno onto the roster under the nose of Geese, Holly, and everyone else. Why can't you maintain Rose's continued employment under the nose of Ruby and just keep Rose out of the ring until Ruby loses the Title? This whole situation would be easily solved in a matter of time. Then once Ruby loses, her power is gone. And she won't get another Title shot."
*Jean looks a little upset.*
[MJC:] "I appreciate the advice but this plan would be dishonest, Drake!"
[Drake:] "When someone lies to you and then holds you and others at virtual gunpoint, what truth do you owe them?"
[MJC:] "Maybe none to her, but what about to myself, the other wrestlers, and the fans!?"
[Drake:] "They'd understand when Ruby loses the title and you explain it to them. And you'd be making this so much easier on yourself until then. Rose wouldn't really be fired, her career would just be slightly delayed. And while I think she has potential, she could use some more training. I bet you could even get Matt to work with her in the meantime. Jean, this would end up helping everyone in the long term."
*MJC sighs and takes a few moments to think.*
[MJC:] "You're not wrong. It's not a bad idea. It's just..."
*Drake smiles in an understanding way.*
[Drake:] "Not your way of doing things. I didn't expect you to love the idea but I would have felt guilty not suggesting it."
[MJC:] "Before I took this job, Celes cautioned me that we can't ever ourselves to be manipulated into distorting our own reality. At first I didn't really understand what she meant but now I get it, and agree. I can't twist OG-Joshi into a lie, even if it may make things easier for me."
[Drake:] "So you really are gonna face Ruby down then?"
[MJC:] "As far as I'm concerned, she'll come to her senses. She wants to be OG-Joshi World Champion."
[Drake:] "What are you going to do about the PPV name?"
[MJC:] "I think I overreacted a little at Voltage. She had no right to declare that the official name or have the music interrupt me so I lost my temper. But I can give her this final gesture to show that we could work together as Coach and Champion."
[Drake:] "So "Destiny Unknown" stays?"
[MJC:] "I'll keep it. *Jean laughs* Heck, it saves us a little money having her put together all the banners! But I hope people realize that it's not accurate. I know our destiny, and it's strong whether she's on board or not. Same with UBL. Jinchuu can't go at this forever."
[Drake:] "That's what I'm afraid of. They've been very quiet leading up to Battle Formation."
[MJC:] "Speaking of that, do you have any idea why Ruby would be interested in that show?"
*Drake suddenly looks alarmed.*
[Drake:] "No, why? Did she mention something to you? Did you hear anything?"
[MJC:] "It happened when we were negotiating to free Yoshi from Matsuki's contract. Ruby asked, somewhat in passing, if I knew when Battle Formation would be. I had no idea, which I told her to little reaction. But I found her interest curious."
*Drake sighs.*
[Drake:] "Great, more radicals. Thanks for telling me. After what she pulled at Ragnarok, I better inform Genji Security to be on the lookout for her and Gauntlet. Jean, we're doing the best we can, but the sooner Geese comes back, the better. I'm getting to the end of my rope-"
*Jean nods with sympathy as Drake looks incredibly frustrated. The door then opens and LOLCat walks in.*
[LOLCat:] "Oh hai Drake!"
*Drake now looks exasperated and gets up from his chair*
[Drake:] "I...I gotta speak to Genji. Good luck, Jean."
[MJC:] "Thanks for the advice, Drake!"
*Drake leaves and LOLCat looks sad.*
[LOLCat:] "Didz I do that?"
*MJC smiles and starts petting him as we fade out.*
[MJC:] "Thanks for coming by, Drake. I'm just...so frazzled right now."
