June 2011 Voltage
*Voltage starts off with the traditional pan around the audience while red and gold confetti falls from the rafters. The fans cheer loudly when the Orochi-Tron shows the matches for tonight:*
1: Team Chuu Chuu vs. Lina/Molly Cule
2: Tigerfly Sword vs. Avalon
3: Chanel/Lorelai vs. The Hellions
4. OG-Joshi World Title: Narai Kaeo vs. Ruby Moreno (c)
And we head to the ring where Team Chuu Chuu has already made their entrance to the delight of the crowd. Chuu Chuu came extremely close to becoming the new OG-Joshi Tag Team Champions at the previous Voltage but were finally defeated by the Reed Sisters. However, Chuu Chuu may have another chance to prove themselves tonight. While MJC had provisionally offered Lina and a partner of her choice a shot at the Titles at the PPV, the scenario that happens if Lina loses her matches is starting to take shape. If the Dods win at the next Amplitude and Chuu Chuu win tonight, we could be looking at a match between those teams with the winner to challenge the Reeds. But if Lina and Molly win tonight, and Lina and Jenna win at the next Amplitude, then Lina wll be guaranteed her Tag Title shot at the PPV.
And Lina seems to be quite aware of the stakes as she is incredibly intense coming out to ringside. She has chosen Molly Cule, a former opponent of hers, as her partner tonight. Lina defeated Molly during the first Orochi-O's TV of the year but clearly gained a lot of respect for her in their epic 20+ minute encounter. These two should be an interesting compliment in styles with Molly's quick technical moves supporting Lina's power and brawling skills. It is clear that Chuu Chuu have the speed advantage but Molly may be able to control them and Lina may just keep knocking them down repeatedly! However, Team Chuu Chuu have a knack for getting back up up no matter who is knocking tnem down (...down). And considering the teamwork advantage Chuu Chuu will have, Lina and Molly have a tall order ahead of them.
Let's get to the ring for the first match of the night!

And it appears that the key isn't continuing to knock Chuu Chuu down, but knowing how to hold them down long enough to defeat them! Molly did just that with her semi rare "Bombs Away" finisher! If she was aiming to win the match AND impress Lina, you have to figure that move was a good choice! Lina is going to need someone who can fend off the technical expertise of the Reed Sisters and Molly showed she has more then just a few tricks up her scientific sleeve. Now it appears Lina's only barrier to getting her Title shot are the Dods. But if Lina does win at Amplitude, who will she choose as her PPV partner? Molly Cule or Jenna Stone? Or someone else entirely?
Yaoi/Yuri (X) [25:40 - "Bombs Away!"] (O) Molly/Lina
We turn next to the latest match in a feud spanning over a year in OG-Joshi. Tigerfly Sword and Avalon have been warring since both arrived here due to tensions that carried over from their interactions in other promotions as well as the rivalry between Sword's husband Tiger Sword and Avalon's boyfriend, Julian Caesaro. While Avalon has made life difficult for Tigerfly Sword in OG-Joshi, Sword got a measure of revenge at the previous Voltage by knocking Avalon out and allowing her to be submitted by Xouxou Chen, Sword's partner in the match. But Avalon still holds a win over Sword in singles competition in addition to all the damage she has done in post match attacks and from sending Gabriella Breeze after her last year. Sword hopes to finally get this 1 on 1 victory here tonight.
Sword is out first and looks focused. She knows she can defeat Avalon after what happened at the last show, she just needs to get it done. Avalon comes out next without her usual swagger. She is clearly angry at being put to sleep in the tag match and wants revenge. If one didn't know any better, it would seem as if Tigerfly dominated this feud based on how angry Avalon is right now. Will this help her in ring performance or cause her to make a mistake? Let's find out!

And these two just put on their best match, together and overall, in OG-Joshi so far! While Sword gave her all and came so close with her suplexes, Avalon took this match after a concentrated attack on Sword's leg, ending with the "Southern Twist" finisher. While Tigerfly Sword is no doubt frustrated by this loss, she has to be proud of the quality of her efforts.
Tigerfly Sword (X) ["Southern Twist" - 19:03] (O) Avalon
Avalon goes up to Tigerfly who is struggling to get to her feet. It looks as if Avalon is actually respectful of the passion of Sword here and helps her stand up. Avalon holds out her hand but when Sword goes to take it, Avalon slaps her right back down to the mat. The crowd boos as Avalon mouths to Sword: "You're never gonna beat me." She then walks back up the ramp while laughing at Sword and taunting the audience. Medics come into the ring to check on Sword but she is able to leave the ring on her own power and does so to fan approval.
*We take a brief intermission and when we return, Yoshi Hattori is bouncing her way down to ringside with a microphone! She gets into the ring and the crowd is very happy to see her. She responds by smiling and doing jumping jacks.*
[Yoshi:] "I'd like to thank Coach Jean for allowing me to come out and say this to you all now. I have a lot of thanks to give to her and to all of you for strong supporting me over the last year. I am filled with great sorry that I was not able to truly thank you all before but Miss Matsuki wouldn't allow me. But she can't hold me back now or stop me from being true to myself.
And that means I hope you will continue to cheer for me...so that I can cheer for you all too!"
*Yoshi starts cheering for all of the fans and even gets up on the turnbuckles to celebrate the fans in each section. The fans cheer in return and it is clear Yoshi is having a lot of fun and is genuinely touched by her interaction with them. But then voices are heard from the entrance and it appears one team scheduled for our next match is already here: The Hellions.*
[Sako:] "I think I'm gonna be sick."
[Hae-Won:]: "We got a Keina clone out here thanking the fans for thanking her for thanking them..."
[Sako:] "And it sounds even worse if you try to make sense of it."
*Yoshi tries to ignore this but quickly exits the ring as they approach.*
[Hae-Won:]: "Yup, just as jumpy as a Keina clone too."
[Sako:] "Don't worry YOOSSHHHHIIII! We weren't gonna hurt you. At least not now, when we want to save our energy for the Xena and Gabriella clones. We just wanted to 'thank you' for your little display there. It got us angry enough to tear their faces off.."
[Hae-Won:]: "We'll let you go back to being the most extreme aluminum ninja or whatever."
Yoshi screams out "Elimininja" but the Hellions are laughing too hard to notice. Yoshi goes backstage dejected but the fans still applaud her which cheers her up a bit. She also passes by Chanel and Lorelai on the way backstage. Chanel shakes her hand while Lorelai pretty much ignores her and just points to the Hellions and makes a throat cutting taunt. Sako responds to this by making a "V" taunt accompanied by her tongue and is getting closer to Sandy Morton's antics then this narrator is happy with. But unlike Sandy, the Hellions can back it up in the ring.
In fact they have done just that: earning a big victory last year over the very dangerous team of Chanel Melendez and Lorelai. However, they have also lost to them. And while tonight is technically a tiebreaker, it was only granted by Coach as a further opportunity for the two teams to prepare for their next match together at the PPV. The winner of that tornado tag match becomes the new #1 Contenders to the OG-Joshi Tag Titles. While winning tonight wll certainly give one of these teams more momentum going into the PPV, it can also help fill out their gameplans. But when dealing with wrestlers of this level of intensity and violence, excluding Chanel, it's always possible that an injury can take place. And with the #1 contendership on the line, each team may want to try to soften the other one up for that match by going full steam tonight. And with what Hae-Won and Sako continue to say about Chanel and Lorelai, the latter duo may just want to smack the Hellions in the mouth regardless of PPV strategy. Let's get to the ring and see what these teams have in store for each other.

Seeing violence between these two teams is no surprise but the way it ended sure was! Chanel and Lorelai struck literal first blood by busting Sako, the Hellion powerhouse, open. This allowed them to control the vast majority of the match up until the end when Sako started to rally against Chanel. The hot tag to Lorelai is somewhat ineffectual against the momentum gathering Sako but Hae-Won had clearly lost her temper at that point. Rather then allow Lorelai back into the ring, Hae-Won bombards her AND Chanel on the outside leading to a countout!
Chanel/Lorelai (X) [Count-Out - 23:10] (O) Sako/Hae-Won
Even Sako appears a bit surprised at how pissed off the more reserved Hae-Won was and how that match ended. And Lorelai doesn't seem to want this encounter to end at all! Both teams appear even angrier at each other after the viciousness of this match and way it ended. It takes Genji Security to come out and separate them before they start their PPV Tornado Tag match early! Coach may have just turned a campfire into a conflagration between these teams!!
And speaking of things Coach had a hand in, we now come to the main event of tonight! In the April "Coach's Corner" update, Jean Carter explained why Narai Kaeo was getting a shot at Ruby Moreno's World Championship and how that allowed Yoshi Hattori to break free of her contract with Matsuki Holdings. What the fans don't know is what was offered to Ruby to make this deal happen and everyone involved in the deal has remained tight lipped about that. Narai fell short in her first bid to earn a World Title shot when Kat Black defeated her to move onto Ragnarok so tonight is Narai's first actual Title match. This is also Ruby's first defense of her World Title in OG-Joshi but not her first match here since winning it as she defeated Kaori NiGHT at last week's Orochi-O's TV Episode 27 in an epic encounter.
Narai Kaeo comes out first to traditional muay thai music wearing ancient garb. She is led to the ring by a beaming Miss Asako Matsuki. She appears as proud of her negotiation talents as she is of Narai's chances here. Narai goes through a long ceremony preparing herself and the ring for battle while Matsuki looks on, practically tasting that World Title victory with her eyes.
"Dies Irae" plays as Ruby Moreno walks out to the ramp with the World Title affixed around her shapely stomach and hips. She does not appear overly concerned about this match and is smiling quite coyly, almost laughing at Miss Matsuki. She looks at her, expecting her to leave ringside so there's no chance of interference but Matsuki refuses, saying it's her right to stay out there. Ruby yawns and motions to the back, bringing out Canada Meg. Miss Matsuki protests saying it's not fair to have another wrestler out there and finally agrees to leave on her own if Meg also leaves. Ruby smiles at her oneupsmanship beating the noted ruthless businesswoman.
Meanwhile, Narai has ignored this 'match of the minds' and has concentrated on kicking the ring post to get into her mental zone. Narai has a real 'kicker's chance' to walk away with this World Title after we have seen her knock out many an opponent. Ruby is a technical wizard but she is not a physically imposing specimen. Although she has faced strikers before, none have bene as strong or as talented as Narai. However, Ruby did once humiliate Juli Krieger by wrestling circles around her so she is no stranger to larger, more powerful opponents. And we know Narai's biggest weakness is her inexperience in a pro wrestling ring, something the veteran Ruby is sure to exploit. Ruby also has a strong submission arsenal which is aimed at weakening the legs. If Narai gets off balance at all in this match, Ruby will make quick work of her. But if this stays on their feet, Ruby could be prone to a knockout. And with the brutal training a muay thai practicioner has gone through, it's likely that Narai's body is simply tougher then Ruby's. Ruby may have to work extra hard to weaken and put away Narai whereas a simple snap kick to the head could effectively end Ruby's night early. For all of Ruby's arrogance here, she is at more of a disadvantage then she may realize. And with that, we go to the ring where the World Title could change hands tonight!

The crowd got onto their feet within minutes of this match once Narai busted Ruby open! And from then on, Ruby took a real pounding and at times almost appeared to be knocked out on her feet. However, the real story here is the resiliency and spirit of Ruby as she didn't stay down after many of Narai's strongest moves: that included TWO "ApoKaeolypses", Narai's finishing combinations! If anyone doubts Ruby's ability to dig down deep and endure great amounts of pain, this is their wakeup call. As was Ruby's great patience in fighting back and making slow but steady gains against Narai who had control for most of the match. And it all came to a head when Ruby was able to catch an unsuspecting Narai with the "Ruby Cutter" for the win. Whether Narai was completely drained at that point or if the Cutter is that strong a move remains unclear. But that Ruby managed to retain her title in one of the toughest matches of her career can not be doubted.
Narai Kaeo (X) ["Ruby Cutter" - 15:16] (O) Ruby Moreno
*Gauntlet Security now come out from the back and surround Ruby, ensuring that Narai doesn't try to attack her as she slowly recovers from the match. Once Ruby is on her feet and has cleaned her bloody face with a towel, she is given a microphone.*
[Ruby:] "I give credit where it's due and Narai, you fought well. If you ever wish to compete in the big leagues, give Gloria Reyes a call and I will vouch for you."
*Narai is walking backstage and ignores her. Ruby shrugs her shoulders and smirks before saying sarcastically.*
[Ruby:] "I'm sure her manager will translate for her. As for the next part of my soon to be historic speech, I would like Miss Carter to join us."
*After a few minutes, Jean Carter comes out and walks down to the ring but stays on the outside. She grabs a microphone.*
[MJC:] "Yup?"
[Ruby:] "How delightfully quaint. Now, if you are really serious about what you said last week and still expect me to defend my World Title against Visper Karr, you will start showing the proper level of professionalism in promoting the show that historic match could be on. That means no more referring to it as just "the PPV." We're two months away from the biggest show of the year and yet you have no name for it? Is this job still so overwhelming for you that even the simple responsibilities elude your grasp?"
*MJC scowls a bit but shakes her head no.*
[Ruby:] "Excellence deserves a name, Miss Carter. And I see fit to provide that name since I will headline that show: provided, of course, that our destined roster will be one Moreno short of a pair by that point."
*MJC looks very frustrated now and cuts Ruby off before she says anything else.*
[MJC:] "So you steal Kat's Title rematch, beat Visper under an assumed false identity, demand your innocent sister get fired, defend the title in another promotion without my permission, and now you think you can choose the PPV name?"
*Ruby looks slightly embarrassed and smiles a little awkwardly.*
[Ruby:] "When you put it that way, I have had a rather uneventful year so far. I'll be sure to pick up the pace at what we will now be calling-"
*Gauntlet Security members unfurl a giant banner with a name on it which also appears on the Orochi-Tron, to Jean's surprise.*
"OG-Joshi: Destiny Unknown - "Ruby Ruby Ruby Mo-re-no"
[MJC:] "What the heck? You can't do th-"
An edited version of "Destination Unknown" (by Rancid) starts to play over the loud speakers as Jean Carter tries to argue with Ruby who smiles and and points to the banner in patronizing fashion. Jean can't get the music to stop and finally walks backstage in a huff with an annoyed expression. The show ends as Ruby holds her World Title over her head while smirking.*
