*Time: 2:09PM*
*The scene opens up in the House of Muscle gym.*
*Rachel Sky is seen performing some very complicated yoga exercises that display her amazing flexibility. After a few minutes, Hayley Storm and Shay Creed approach Rachel. Once Rachel takes notice of their presence she stands upright to greet them properly.*
[Rachel Sky:] Hi, Hayley.
*Hayley looks gloomy for some reason.*
[Hayley Storm:] …Hi, Rachel.
[Rachel Sky:] Hi, Shay.
*Shay is struggling with replying to Rachel since she usually was not allowed to speak freely, but after remembering a conversation she had with Tyler about her “new life” she decides to reply.*
[Shay Creed:] Hello, Rachel Sky.
*Rachel notices how hard Shay still is trying to adapt to her new environment which makes her smile.*
[Rachel Sky:] So what have you two been up to?
[Hayley Storm:] …Not much.
*Rachel hears a depressed tone in Hayley’s voice so she tries to lift her spirits.*
[Rachel Sky:] Is there something wrong, Hayley? You don’t have to worry; I know you’re still upset about the loss to Diva and Yoyo so I’ve been working really hard during the last few days. We’ll get ‘em next time.
*Hayley winces and looks worse because it appears that Rachel misunderstood the reasoning behind her current emotion. Hayley sighs before she speaks*
[Hayley Storm:] That’s what I wanted to talk to you about. Come and sit.
*Hayley leads Shay and a puzzled Rachel to a bench. Hayley and Rachel take a seat while Shay stands. Hayley looks into Rachel’s concerned blue eyes and exhales deeply as she decides to get right to the point.*
[Hayley Storm:] I asked Shay to be my partner for the rematch.
*Rachel looks shocked at the sudden news.*
[Rachel Sky:] W-what?
*Shay’s ignorance to emotions causes her to make the misconception that Rachel’s reply was that of shock rather than confusion. This misunderstanding makes Shay elaborate on what Hayley said.*
[Shay Creed:] I will be replacing you in the match against Darkness Diva and Yoyo Banzai.
[Rachel Sky:] …Replaced?
*At this point, Hayley is avoiding all eye-contact with Rachel, so much so that it is obvious. Even though Hayley is not looking at her, she knows that Rachel is not taking this news well.*
[Hayley Storm:] It just makes sense, you know? During our match I had didn’t want to see you get hurt so I tried to fight most of it myself, but with Shay I don’t have to do that because I know she can hold her own.
[Shay Creed:] My Captain has already approved, however, he gave me strict orders to not fall into habits from my “old life”.
*Rachel is clearly disheartened but she asks the following question because she wants to clarify something to herself even if she is risking making herself feel worse.*
[Rachel Sky:] …Do you think I’ll be getting in the way with me on the team?
*Hayley does not answer but it can be inferred that this conversation is tearing her apart inside because she knows how much effort Rachel is putting in to prove she is an asset to the Genesis X team and for her to basically ask if she is being a burden is upsetting.*
[Shay Creed:] Hayley Storm believes that your incompetence is becoming too much of a nuisance to look past.
*That comment hits Rachel hard as she gets a little wide-eyed with emotional anguish. Even though she knows that Shay lacks the knowledge of how to handle delicate situations like this, Hayley gets upset with Shay for her bluntness.*
[Hayley Storm:] That’s not true!
*Shay looks confused because that was what Hayley said to her in a previous conversation, albeit, without sounding as cruel as she just was.*
[Rachel Sky:] …It’s okay…I understand.
[Hayley Storm:] Are you sure? I really think you’re great it’s just-
[Rachel Sky:] It’s fine, really. You don’t have to explain. I get it.
*For some reason, Rachel’s statement does not make Hayley feel any better.*
[Rachel Sky:] This will be great for Shay anyway; she can get some experience of her own now. Good luck you two.
*Rachel smiles at Hayley and Shay. Everyone in the University knows that Rachel is a terrible liar and that shows here. Hayley knows that Rachel’s words were sincere but she can see right through her smile and sees that right behind it lies a broken and upset woman. Hayley decides not to comment on it and leave-well-enough-alone.*
[Hayley Storm:] Thank you. I’m glad you understand.
*Hayley and Shay make their exit out of the gym. Once they are gone, Rachel looks saddened as she whispers to herself.*
[Rachel Sky:] ……It happened again. …“Replaced”……I’m starting to not like that word.
*The scene comes to a close with Rachel continuing to feel bad for herself.*
