I Want to Protect You

*Time: 5:21PM*

*The scene opens up in the Valentine Hearts Center.*

*Rachel Sky is seen sitting in the waiting room with her face in her palms, she appears to be sobbing. After a few minutes, a hand is placed on Rachel’s shoulder. Shocked by the sudden sensation, Rachel looks up to see that the hand belongs to Kim Valentine.*

[Rachel Sky:] Kim. How is she?

*Kim sighs before smiling.*

[Kim Valentine:] She’s the same as when you asked me five minutes ago. You need to calm down. I already told you, Heather’s injuries are minor. In a few days she’ll be back to her normal self…whatever that means.

[Rachel Sky:] But how is she recovering?

[Kim Valentine:] Well, she did hit on me a few times. To tell you the truth, I’m kinda afraid to go back in there.

*Rachel cracks a small smile.*

[Rachel Sky:] Yeah, she’s doing fine.

*Kim sits down next to Rachel.*

[Kim Valentine:] You two are really close, huh?

*Rachel slowly nods.*

[Rachel Sky:] We first met in high school, she won’t say it but she befriended me to protect me so it hurts when I can’t do the same for her.

[Kim Valentine:] I see. You wanna see her?

[Rachel Sky:] Can I?

[Kim Valentine:] Sure.

*Rachel follows Kim inside of Heather Heaton’s room.*

[Kim Valentine:] You have a guest.

*Kim exits so Rachel and Heather could be alone. Rachel sees Heather lying in the bed, Rachel is relieved to see that other from a few bandages, Heather looks fine.*

[Rachel Sky:] Hi, how are you feeling?

*Heather turns her head and smiles at the sight of a fragile appearing Rachel.*

[Heather Heaton:] There you are. You’re so far away; I can’t see your frightened face. Please come closer.

*Rachel obliges to Heather’s request and takes the seat next to her bed. Heather takes Rachel’s hand so they are hand-in-hand. Rachel takes a few moments of silence, Heather gets curious as she uses her free hand to gently brush some of Rachel’s hair behind her ear, she sees a tear stream on her cheek.*

[Rachel Sky:] …I’m sorry.

[Heather Heaton:] What for?

[Rachel Sky:] I know you’ve been protecting me ever since we met and I’ve been trying to do the same for you but even years after high school I’m still weak. I’m sorry.

*Heather cannot help but smile as she wipes away a falling tear from Rachel.*

[Heather Heaton:] Have I ever told you how cute you look when you’re hopeless?

*Heather uses her free hand again to softly tilt Rachel’s head from her chin so she is facing her.*

[Heather Heaton:] As long as I can wake up and see your face everyday that is all the protection I’ll ever need.

*Rachel looks a little shocked at the flash of sincerity shown from Heather. Rachel stares into Heather’s reassuring eyes until Kim Valentine enters the room.*

[Kim Valentine:] Okay, it’s time to change those bandages.

[Rachel Sky:] Oh, well, I guess I should be going then.

*Rachel gets up from her seat and heads towards the door, before she exits she turns around and makes another statement.*

[Rachel Sky:] One day I will be strong enough to protect you and ALL my friends, just you watch.

*Heather smiles as Rachel exits the room and shuts the door. Kim and Heather’s voices can still be heard from inside the room.*

[Kim Valentine:] Let’s get started.

[Heather Heaton:] Oh, your hands are so soft.

[Kim Valentine:] Okay Heather, let’s keep the flirting to a minimum.

[Heather Heaton:] That’s going to be difficult, tender skin and soft hands are traits that cannot be easily resisted.

*Rachel smirks seeing that Heather is getting better indeed.*

[Rachel Sky:] I WILL become stronger………I have to.

*Rachel walks off, the scene comes to a close*
