History
Ruby Moreno comes from a wealthy and influential family in LA. She was athletic
as a child and was fortunate enough to have a father trained in both striking
and submission arts. As a child, she had an aggressive streak that would get her
into a lot of trouble in school. But due to her family's wealth and influence
in their town, she was always able to get out of disciplinary action. Her parents
were also not concerned or bothered by her troublesome behavior. This all gave
Ruby the feeling of being "above" everyone else in her community. She felt
like she could do whatever she wanted and that no one could stop her. She
was also extremely intelligent, excelling in academics when she put her
mind to it. And rumor also has it that she was a very sought after "date-able
commodity" in her school due to her incredible looks, but her high standards
prevented her from dating anyone "lower" then her...which, in her opinion,
was just about everyone. Ruby Moreno was not a sociable person growing up.
Although she was successful in martial arts tournaments, she did not
find the pay or fame to be worthy of her high level of skills and nobility. She
saw there was money and fame to be had in professional wrestling and
became a part of the LAWL gym where she first trained to be a wrestler.
Ruby then made her professional wrestling debut in LAWL in 2002. She had
early success due to her physical and mental prowess. But she received a lot
of scorn from the fans due to her egotistical behavior and exclusive
demeanor. One of her most controversial moves was refusing to accept
a shot at the 1337 Title because she saw it as below her. She only wanted
the top LAWL title, the OMG Title. The fans saw that as an insult to the
1337 belt and to one of their favorite wrestlers, Lucky Lupe who was
the Titleholder. But Ruby only wanted the best, and to her, that was
the OMG Title, then held by longtime champion, Gloria Reyes.
She had finally earned a shot at Gloria after going through all the other top
contenders. However, she fell just short in her OMG Title match. Gloria's
experience was too much for the still young Ruby. Although Ruby had
shot to the top of LAWL faster then anyone else had, she still had much
to learn. Ruby petitioned LAWL for another title shot...but then Gloria
Reyes decided to retire from active wrestling with the OMG Title. LAWL
held an OMG Title Tournament with Ruby as the #1 seed. She got to
the finals but lost to Gloria's younger sister, Marie. Ruby was furious
but perservered. She knew the OMG Title was in her future, and she
was destined to be the top champion. She never believed otherwise.
After earning a shot to face Marie for the Title, Ruby finally won the
title at the Intelligent.Design.R show of April, 2006. She declared
her intentions to have the longest OMG Title reign ever, in addition
to her desire to retire with it just like her old rival, Gloria Reyes had done.
Ruby then set to work forming a new stable which she
named, "Generation NEON". She was the leader of
this interpromotional group and also wrestled alongside
of them on LAWL and McPro shows. It was around this
time that she began to call herself "the guiding light
of professional wrestling". She claimed she was the
light of LAWL and that geNEON was the light of McPro.
They started to make challenges to Orochi Army but
were promptly ignored until McPro finally went under.
Her next big challenge was in the form of women's
wrestling legendary icon, Jo Ryder. At the conclusion
of the 2006 HaLAWLoween show, Jo Ryder challenged
Ruby to a match at the upcoming LAWLiday for Ruby's
OMG Title. In her hardest challenge yet, Ruby mustered
up the tenacity and gameplan to defeat Jo Ryder. In doing
so, LAWL took a huge step towards worldwide acceptance.
And Ruby took an even bigger step of starting to be seen as
likely being the best women's wrestler in the world:
nearly eclipsing the current OG-Joshi World Champion
at the time, Holly Walker, much to her chagrin. Furthermore,
Ruby only required one match to defeat Jo Ryder whereas
Holly took over a year to beat her former adversary.
Ruby had an incredible reign as Champion, beating some
of the best from around the world as well as keeping
LAWL as a promotion in the spotlight. However. Ruby finally
lost her treasured OMG Title about a year and a half later to
OG-Joshi and McPro mainstay, Jenny McLanahan. Despite
this close loss, Ruby was graceful in defeat believing she
lost to the better competitor on that night. When Holly
attempted to 'steal' the Title immediately after the match
by exercising her nebulous right to a Title match, Ruby
viciously attacked her, doing so with the intention of
protecting the legitimacy of Jenny's new reign and the
LAWL Title. These actions showed Ruby's own sense of
integrity and nobility while furthering her feud with Holly.
Ruby's next actions were to help the returned Gloria Reyes
deal with kicking Holly out of LAWL. She defeated Juli Krieger
in a dominating fashion few have seen before and then
prevented Holly from attacking Jenny McLanahan. Jenny
retained her Title and Holly, based on conditions agreed
to before the match, was kicked out of LAWL.
The final battle between Holly and LAWL was fought through
business dealings as LAWL had to break free of the Orochi-O's Inc
TV contract. Geese had been providing LAWL with international
DVD exposure for 5 years but the deal had turned sour due to
the actions of Holly and controlling nature of Geese. However,
without Orochi-O's bankrolling and producing their DVD's, LAWL
was afraid no one else would and they would go back to being
a small local promotion. Geese threatened he would let LAWL
die if Holly did not get her way in LAWL but Ruby pulled her own
power play. She found a new prospective partner for LAWL,
the Destiny Organization. They won the bid to be the new
worldwide media provider for LAWL and this took away all of
Geese's leverage. Holly and Geese's influence were gone from
LAWL but many questioned just who this Destiny Organization
was and what role Ruby had within it. Was she a member,
a spokewoman, something more? Regardless, LAWL
was back on its feet...or tails...or potato peels.
Ruby used the occasion of being free of distractions to
rekindle her rivalry with Gloria. She began to lord
her influence with Destiny over Gloria, forcing her to
agree to Ruby's requests for matches under the penalty
of Destiny dropping their financial support of LAWL. Gloria
could do very little and promised to face Ruby until one
of them won their rivalry decisively. Ruby did just that
and has been biding her time in LAWL planning a big
surprise for LAWL's 5 year anniversary celebration.
Her activities in LAWL after kicking Holly out were
actually the more minimal of her overall actions.
In mid 2009, her geNEON stable assisted the Canada
Brothers in an attack of Orochi Geese. Ruby did this
to strengthen her relationship with her tag team partner
understudy Canada Meg and also to pay Geese back
for his violent treatment of the Canada Brothers in
the past and during the Battalion. And also to 'pay
Geese back for,' in her opinion, his killing of McPro,
the promotion she was enjoying taking over with GeNEON.
Most striking in this attack was the presence of a rather
muscular masked man who resembled the UBL rookie,
Jeff "Apex" Monroe. Jeff did very little to distance himself
from the attack of Geese and further taunted him into fighting
him. And while Jeff did not have Ruby as his manager
in UBL, she was his mouthpiece in the AMBITION
promotion. It was clear to most people that Jeff was the
masked man as they had the same build and utilized the
same moves. But Jeff denied it while supporting exactly
what the man did. While Jeff believed he was getting exposure
for his words, he did not fully realize just how angry
Geese had gotten at Jeff and Ruby's behavior. At the
2010 Battalion show, Geese defeated and then gravely
injured Jeff to the point where it was doubtful Jeff would
ever walk again. The excessive violence by Geese was not
just in retaliation to Jeff and Ruby's behavior, but also as
a means to goad some of Geese's enemies into facing him.
Ruby promised retribution but went under the radar for
six months until popping back up during the main event of
the first night of OG-FPD Ragnarok. She then attempted to
gravely injure Holly but was prevented by Mr. Clyde and Celes,
Holly's opponent. Ruby escaped without danger due to escort
by Gauntlet Security, a force alleged to be the new muscle of
Destiny Organization. It was also alleged that Gauntlet placed
explosives under the ring which Clyde was able to defuse. Ruby
did not have anything to say about the attack on Holly that
was successful during Night 2 but many believe that she would
have claimed credit for it if she was even partially responsible.
Ruby then made her most decisive strike against OG-Joshi
during the February 2011 Voltage. She stole a costume from
Kat Black and took advantage of the real Kat's absence on
the show where she was scheduled to face Visper Karr for
the OG-Joshi World Title. No one knew it was Ruby under
Kat's mask and clothes until it was too late. Ruby had defeated
Visper Karr, a huge accomplishment but one overshadowed
by Ruby's scheme to do so and the final punctuation to the
plan. Unless Jean Carter, OG-Joshi's Coach, fired Ruby's
sister Rose from the roster, Ruby would take the title away
from OG-Joshi forever. While very few people understand
why Ruby wants her sister fired, or even that the rookie Rose
was actually Ruby' sister, everyone understands the stakes.
And they also see how Ruby has now begun to manipulate
OG-Joshi, Holly's home, in the same fashion that Holly did
to LAWL. Payback is a bitch, and Ruby may just be a bigger
one then Holly ever was. With Holly and Geese both in
hospitals and out of action, Ruby is holding OG-Joshi hostage.
Update: Like 12 years worth of updates needed!!
Ruby lost the OG-Joshi World Title, bought OG-Joshi, lost OG-Joshi to Robin Walker, left Destiny, bought UBL.
