Night 2 - December 14th, 2010
Special Note: There's a lot of commentary for both nights so it's not so easy to quickly navigate. I'll be providing "codes" so you can get to any section of the show you want quickly and with minimal hassle. I would not advise checking out the main event of each Night without having some story context and I do truly believe the enjoyment of every match is greatly enhanced through commentary narration of why each has been made.
At the very least, the codes will give some easy jumping/browsing capacity for those who may want to watch the show in a different order then it is presented in or to return quickly to where you left off (cause it would be insane to watch this all in one sitting. And believe me, having written all of this, I know insanity pretty well!) Enjoy!

*The Ragnarok Night 2 hype video starts off the show. After it's over we are joined once again by John Randolph in the UBL Battle Chamber and Coach Jean Carter in the OG-Joshi auditorium. However, unlike Night 1, Jean Carter is herself joined by Luke Kisiera.
[John:] "Welcome everyone to Ragnarok Night 2!"
[MJC:] "And I'd like to introduce my special friend and bodyguard, Luke Kisiera!"
[Luke:] "Uh, hi everyone!"
[MJC:] "After what happened at Night 1, I kinda wanted to have some back-up."
[Luke:] "I would have come out even sooner then-"
[MJC:] "Shh, we already talked about it. You had been through a hard fight earlier on and 'she' attacked me before anyone could do anything to stop it."
[John:] "Well three looks like it may be a crowd here-"
[MJC:] "Oh sorry, John.
[Luke:] "I'm really just here to protect Jean. I don't need to say anything."
[John:] "Considering you're taking an awfully long time to respond..."
[MJC:] "Luke, silly, you can talk! But for now, let's just check out the matches!"
*The Orochi-Tron's in both arenas show the match listing
Night 2:
7) Land Mine Death match: Tiger Sword vs. Athrin
8) Naomi vs. Ayame Yamato
9) OG-Joshi Tag Titles: Dod Squod vs. Reed Sisters (c)
10) Last Man Standing: Jason Hyde vs. Thunder Strike
11) OG-Joshi World Title: Kat Black vs. Visper Karr (c)
12) Kyle Walker/Orochi Geese vs. Clyde/Figaro
[Luke:] "Did uh...anyone see that part about the 'codes' from before?"
[MJC:] "C-codes?"
[John:] "...combat codes?"
[Luke:] "Cause that part already listed the matches so it's like we did it twice."
[John:] "A full night of matches tonight, that is for sure, Mr. Kisiera."
[MJC:] "So uh, anyone notice something 'new' about the card?"
[John:] "Over the last week, Athrin came to Drake Yoshida and asked if he could make their match into a Land mine death match. Drake didn't know quite what to say but then Geese actually green lighted the match provided Tiger Sword was ok with it. And lo and behold, Sword obliged. So folks, the potential violence of that match just went up like 100 decibels. And unfortunately Jean, you have a near front row seat."
[MJC:] "So let's get beyond this as soon as possible. I was really hoping to begin the show with Naomi vs Ayame but due to the difficulty and amount of time required for the ring crew to set up the barbed wire land mine Tennessee snorkling mesquite BBQ potato chip match-"
[Luke:] "Or to say that-"
[MJC:] "Drake wanted to have that match start first. That way it would all be set up before the show started and minimum time would be wasted."
[Luke:] "But...isn't this match going be in the UBL ring and not the OG-Joshi one anyway? They could have the match set up by the time Naomi and Ayame finished up."
[MJC:] "Hey you're right! I've been bamboozled!"
[John:] "Say, Jean...not that I'm unhappy about this but I'm kind of surprised how remarkably chipper you are after the events of last night."
[MJC:] "Well no sense in dwelling on unhappy possibilities that didn't happen. Plus, I got a great support system to help me move forward."
[John:] "So you're ok with everything?"
[MJC:] "No, not at all. But like I said last night, I'm trying my best not to use my commentary role as a soapbox to give my personal thoughts. Obviously in some cases that's harder then others but I have to keep trying. I'll have a chance to talk to the roster and the fans after Ragnarok and then I'll be candid. But this show isn't about me, even if certain people tried to make it that way. I will just thank Mr. Clyde for his actions."
[Luke:] "As will I."
[MJC:] "And we'll move onto the next match, whether I like the stipulations here or not."
[John:] "So we're starting with the death match."
[MJC:] "I guess the upside is that Ayame and Naomi can wipe everyone's memories clean with QUALITY after the unnecessary ultraviolence here."
(Code: RN2-1C )
[John:] "It may be unnecessary to some, but to Athrin and Sword, it's the next logical step of their rivalry. From Athrin and Fuzen Tara Seitan injuring Sword last November, to Sword coming back and defeating Athrin in two straight matches, these two have been at each other's throats."
[MJC:] "Aside from everything going on with Geese, I think the Athrin and Sword rivalry has been the most violent feud in UBL or at least tied with Marauder and Naja Mask."
[John:] "Which is saying something cause UBL hasn't been so user-friendly recently."
[Luke:] "You're telling me! Matt had to go to the hospital after Night 1 to get stitches!"
[MJC:] "The scary thing is that weapons ARE legal in this upcoming match. In fact, the entire ring is a weapon!"
[John:] "Barbed wire everywhere and not to one-up you Jean, but the scary thing to me is that there's no real escape. If you go outside the ring, you'll step...or fall...onto the exploding landmines."
[Luke:] "They're explodey."
[John:] "Hmm?"
[Luke:] "Yeah, not the best choice of dialogue there either, sorry."
[MJC:] "Athrin and Sword are about to do horrific things to each other but first, we have the debut of the new Fuzen Tara Seitan entrance video which apparently Geese funded."
[John:] "Geese and Athrin have a sense of mutual respect. They co-produced the Battle Formation show in 2009 and have tag teamed together in FPCPP. I'm not quite sure how deep that alliance goes but Geese put a promotional video together for FTS and wants it shown tonight so..."
[MJC:] "No arguing with him there."
[John:] "Exactly."
Fuzen Tara Seitan video
[MJC:] "And that doubles as a ring entrance for Athrin who has come down here. During the video, we actually had Tiger Sword come to the ring. He was leaning against the turnbuckle watching the video and smirking."
[John:] "He seemed amused by the video and actually mocked the swirling part by spinning in a circle."
[MJC:] "He was not impressed. Luke...are you ok?"
[Luke:] "The spinny part of the video made me feel...spinny."
[MJC:] "Yeah it will do that. Have some ginger ale, Luke."
[John:] "Now, Athrin and Sword are both in the ring in a staredown. Sword is mock clapping at Athrin's video and yelling "Encore" but Athrin doesn't seem fazed by Sword's attitude and is just pointing to the barbed wire and then the landmines as if to say: "You're future resting place."
[MJC:] "Not just 'as if to say', Athrin actually just said that out loud after you said it!"
[John:] "I'd feel much more comfortable if I hadn't just read Athrin's mind."
[MJC:] "As would we all, John. As would we all. I'd also feel more comfortable if we didn't have to watch this match now. But Geese wanted violence and...here we go."

[John:] "That was to the point."
[MJC:] "I'd rather that match didn't have such a clear statement."
[John:] "Sword made an impressive comeback here but Athrin is too at home in this environment."
[MJC:] "I don't see how ANYONE could be comfortable in a match where your body is on fire and ripped apart with barbed wire, John."
[John:] "I don't get it either but Athrin seemed to enjoy getting punished as much as he did dishing it out. Maybe that's what allowed him to fight past Sword's huge rally to finish him with the Demon Driver."
[MJC:] "But Sword made a nice comeback and almost had the match won on a few occasions, especially the Tiger Suplex right before the Demon Driver."
[John:] "You do have to give Athrin credit for his resiliency there."
[MJC:] "I have to give him credit for ending it before it got even MORE violent."
[John:] "Can't argue with that."
[Luke:] "I'm glad none of my candy dropped out of my pocket and rolled onto the mines."
[MJC:] "Candy are mainly for eating, not exploding."
[Luke:] "We feel the same way about candy."
Tiger Sword (X) ["Demon Driver" - 14:59] (O) Athrin Kazama
(Code: RN2-2C )
[MJC:] "And now it's time to get to one of my most awaited matches for this show and specific night. Naomi faces her part-time teacher Ayame Yamoto, formerly known as Tigress Mask."
[John:] "Now if I'm correct, this match is actually somewhat of an inter-brand match?"
[MJC:] "That's right, John. Since Naomi is on Voltage and Ayame is on Amplitude, this is one of the first true Voltage vs. Amplitude matches. However, given that the two are close friends and Naomi was only recently placed on Voltage, there aren't too many wrestlers backstage who are fanning the flames between the rosters."
[Luke:] "Stop, drop and roll."
[John:] "...maybe just stop."
[MJC:] "Now now, John. Since kids are allowed to watch this next match, unlike the last one, they should hear what to do in a fire. Good lesson, Luke!"
[Luke:] "Thanks!"
[MJC:] "
But they should also hear why this match is going to happen. Naomi used to be part of the KENTA! Army along with Keina, 'Shino', and 'Hiromi', the latter two now known as Hae-Won and Sako Dasumi, the Heckions."
[John:] "Don't you mean Hellions?"
[MJC:] "I don't like that word."
[John:] "In any case, I think we ALL remember KENTA! Army, if for no other reason then their voices and uh, enthusiasm."
[MJC:] "Unfortunately some of that enthusiasm turned negative as Shino took over the group and started harassing Naomi and Keina. Tigress Mask saw it happening and helped Naomi out by giving her confidence and some knowledge of submissions. Shino reacted negatively to that, challenged Tigress, and lost. However, she also stole the mask of Tigress, revealing her identity: Ayame Yamato. Naomi was so upset with Shino's actions that she challenged her to a match and beat her. Keina helped get the mask back for Ayame and SHINO Army disbanded."
[John:] "Well Jean, that sounds pleasant but why are these two facing each other now?"
[MJC:] "There's obviously no bad blood between Naomi and Ayame. Instead, Ayame wants to test how far along Naomi has come in the ring. This is simply a competition between two wrestlers who respect each other and want to put on an exciting encounter for the fans. I know, right? SHOCKING that such a match could ever take place!! But that's what we do in OG-Joshi. We shock the world with non-apocalyptic based competition."
[John:] "That should be on a T-shirt. So...gasp...these two won't carve each other up?"
[MJC:] "Nope!"
[John:] "Well then, let's get to the match!"
[MJC:] "Naomi has come out and she looks somewhat passive."
[Luke:] "A little 'deer in headlighty', an expression I know all too well."
[MJC:] "Rudolph Kisiera."
[Luke:] "Drake finally let me play in the reindeer games."
[John:] "Ok, ok, we get it."
[MJC:] "Luckily the crowd is giving Naomi a lot of support. I see many of them holding Naomi signs and cheering loudly for her which I'm glad to see. She's becoming a real success story with her added confidence and victories in the ring while still being just as humble and nice to everyone backstage. That's inspiration material as far as I'm concerned."
[John:] "And Ayame is out next to an equally large reaction. Ayame has been around in OG-Joshi for a while, isn't that correct?"
[MJC:] "Not only that, but she's had a LOT of success. She won the Kaori NiGHT Invitational Tournament in 2006 mere months after joining OG-Joshi. That was actually the first OG-Joshi tournament we ever had. And her best 2 out of 3 falls match with Dizzy at OG-Joshi Unleashed was very highly regarded. Tigress came extremely close to winning that but Dizzy willed it out at the end. You really can't underestimate Ayame's abiities. In fact, the reason Dizzy faced her was because Dizzy wanted to improve herself against submission wrestlers. She specifically chose Ayame for that match."
[John:] "So we're looking at a wrestler highly respected by the roster and fans and from what I remember, she defeated Shino pretty handily when they fought."
[MJC:] "As angry as Shino was at Tigress for trying to meddle in their affairs, Shino had no answer to Tigress' superior submission and aerial abilities."
[John:] "But will Naomi?"
[MJC:] "That's a tough one, John. I don't really know where Naomi stands right now in terms of her skills. She defeated Kim Cross during voltage this Fall and that was possibly the upset of the year. Kim Cross defeated Jo Ryder, after all, in addition to Lana and many others. For Naomi to have beaten her was really the win of her young career."
[John:] "So even though styles tend to make fights, confidence does too. If Naomi could beat Kim and use that confidence to take on Tigress, she has a shot."
[MJC:] "She has a shot. I don't see this as a huge underdog match, not after Naomi beat Kim. But I wouldn't exactly put them on the same level either just due to Ayame's experience and the fact she's clearly coming into this more confident and less shaky."
[John:] "This is also the biggest stage Naomi has ever been on. Whereas Ayame has wrestled on Anniversary shows before, like in the Invitational Tournament, and even high card PPV matches like against Dizzy. She's way more comfortable in the spotlight."
[MJC:] "Right, yet another reason Naomi has that wide-eyed look. And now that Ayame is coming down to the ring, you can see her confidence."
[John:] "Just a completely relaxed but focused demeanor. No anxiety. Even though the crowd is cheering for her, she has her sights set on this match. A great example of how to approach a big encounter and I hope all the rookies, in both feds, are paying attention to this."
[MJC:] "Luke, I think that means you too."
[Luke:] "Oh right!"
[MJC:] "Ayame's in the ring and goes over to shake Naomi's hand. Naomi looks a bit freaked out but Ayame whispers something to her and Naomi seems to calm down. They shake hands and the ref rings the bell. Let's get to it!"
(Code: RN2-2M )
Match 8: Naomi vs. Ayame Yamato
Naomi starts off with a dropkick that must have been at least 3 feet wide to the right.
[Luke:] "Maybe she adjusted for wind resistance."
[John:] "We're indoors."
[MJC:] "Exactly."
Ayame looks confused at the tactic/whiff and Naomi blushes. Ayame sighs and immediately rushes Naomi and forces a double leg takedown.
[John:] "This may seem overly aggressive but I bet Ayame thinks the only way to get Naomi past the early match jitters is to get her right into the thick of action."
Ayame pauses in the top mount and doesn't do anything to allow Naomi a chance, which pays off for Naomi as she reverses it into a backwards pin attempt. Ayame easily kicks out but Naomi looks a bit more calm now. Enough so that Naomi picks Ayame up and irish whips her against the turnbuckles and this time actually connects with a dropkick!
[Luke:] "Wind to the South east now."
[MJC:] "I thought Matt was the weather expert of your team."
[Luke:] "Heh heh."
Ayame rolls backwards after the dropkick and uses the momentum to quickly get onto her feet. She then runs at Naomi, who had her guard down, and hits her own dropkick. Naomi flies into the turnbuckle. Ayame runs at her but rather then attacking, she jumps over her onto the post at the exact time Naomi rolled forward to avoid a suspected attack. Naomi doesn't realize Ayame is up top and gets hit with a flying hurracarana when she turns around!
[MJC:] "Ayame is incredibly clever and has a great sense of ringswomanship."
Naomi rolls out to the floor and takes a few deep breaths. The fans cheer her on and Ayame even claps for her to come back in. She does so and surprisingly charges Ayame! Ayame jumps straight up to avoid a possible double leg takedown but Naomi expects it and actually takes Ayame down from behind with a takedown in the air. She gets into backmount and transitions into a front face lock. Then she puts on a guillotine choke!
[MJC:] "Wow, looks like Naomi is getting a bit more comfortable in there."
Ayame is able to loosen Naomi's grip by grabbing her arm and then turns it into a kimura. Naomi immediately grabs the ropes with her legs and Ayame lets go. Naomi shakes her arm out and looks a bit scared.
[MJC:] "Ayame Yamato and Haley Cannon are feared for their submissions for good reason. Naomi only had her arm in that hold for a split second and turned pale as a result."
[John:] "Naomi is getting better in the ring but i think it's foolish to try to go hold for hold with Ayame. If Naomi wants to use submissions, fine, just do them after another move rather then try to force them on someone with better experience."
Naomi shakes her hand out and starts running around the ring in literal circles around Ayame."
[Luke:] "Then there's always the insanity strategy. Cause sometimes you just have to lose your mind!"
[MJC:] "Not now, dear."
[Luke:] "I know, it just felt good to say that out loud."
Ayame appears confused as to what's going on but Naomi has built up such a head of steam that when she jumps at Ayame with a flying cross body block, Ayame can't counter her. A near surprise fall gets the 2 count but Ayame kicks out. Then Naomi then uses her momentum to hook Ayame into a double arm suplex and executes it perfectly.
[MJC:] "Naomi used to use the Tiger Driver as her finisher so that double arm suplex was a good setup. I'm sure Ayame wasn't expecting such an explosive move."
Ayame gets up but runs right into a snap suplex. The crowd is going nuts here at Naomi's rally but she is staying on task and not getting distracted. As Ayame is getting up, Naomi runs the ropes for a rebound jumping splash! She gets another 2 count!
[John:] "I think we underestimated Naomi tonight."
Ayame brushes herself off and smiles, even claps. Naomi lowers her guard and that second of tentativeness allows Ayame to jump through the air with a knee!!
[MJC:] "That's a good lesson for Naomi. Don't let your opponent distract you!"
Naomi gets pushed back against the ropes and rebounds into a flying jujigatame by Ayame! Naomi again struggles as her arm is in danger. She is able to use her free arm to clutch her affected arm and neutralizes the hold to the point both women are in a tug of war. Then Naomi kips-up which sends the crowd into a huge ovation and also lifts Ayame up and drops her on her head!
[MJC:] "What a move!! Not only did she free herself, but that also acted like a small DDT!"
Naomi rubs her arm trying to get feeling back into it while Ayame rubs her head. The two square off in the ring again and Ayame goes for a double leg tackle. Naomi jumps up but Ayame catches her on her shoulder and goes into a waterwheel drop. Then Ayame flips backward and grabs Naomi by the legs for a float over pin! The manuever pops the fans but only gets a 2. As both women begin to get up, Ayame is quicker and shoots on Naomi again but only manages to get top guard. Naomi tries for a triangle choke but slips which gives Ayame enough time to grab top mount. Ayame starts hitting Naomi with mounted shoteis causing Naomi to roll over to protect her face. Then Ayame grabs a rear naked choke.
[MJC:] "Oh that's not good for Naomi. Ayame has won plenty of matches like this!"
Naomi looks like she's about to tap out but Ayame yells for her to hang on and find a way out. Hard since Ayame has her legs around her waist in addition to the choke. But Naomi starts rolling and gets enough momentum to get over to the ropes. The crowd cheers and Ayame lets go of the hold. Naomi is up first, half gasping for air and runs into Ayame who kicks her in the stomach and then attempts her float over shiranui!"
[MJC:] "That's the old finisher of Tigress Mask!"
But as Ayame is landing from jumping backwards, Naomi drops and hits a Pele kick!! Ayame is sent careening backwards into the ropes and then forward into a stomach kick by Naomi!"
[MJC:] "She's going for another double arm suplex!"
Naomi hits it but then hangs onto the suplex, floats over, and applies a butterfly lock! Ayame looks to be in some trouble here as she was not expecting this at all."
[MJC:] "Wow! That was pretty impressive!"
Naomi hangs on and Ayame struggles to reach the ropes but she can't get her body to move due to how she is being contorted by the hold. Finally after a minute of struggling, her foot taps the mat and the ref calls for the bell!
[MJC:] "Naomi did it!"
Naomi (O) [Butterfly Lock - 14:00] (X) Ayame Yamato
[Luke:] "What a match! Congratulations to Naomi!"
[John:] "You definitely have to hand it to both competitors for this match. To the audience too for their understanding and appreciation of what was going on. This wasn't just a match but a challenge from Ayame to rise to the occasion and Naomi met it head on."
[MJC:] "And I think we may have a little ceremony as a result."
[John:] "There's...more?"
[MJC:] "One of the reasons for the challenge, actually."
*Jean stands up and takes a black bag out from under the table. She gets into the ring and gives it to Ayame after shaking hands with both women. Then she goes back to commentary.*
[John:] "Is there a bowling ball in there?"
[MJC:] "Haha, no."
*Ayame opens the bag and takes something out. It's the Tigress Mask! She goes over and whispers to Naomi. Naomi shakes her head no quickly and looks frightened. Ayame smiles and taps her on the shoulder before looking seriously at her. Naomi tentatively reaches for the mask which Ayame begins to hand over. The crowd is going nuts here and finally Naomi holds the mask. Ayame lets go of it but raises Naomi's hand up in the air to further applause. Then Naomi looks at the mask with her same wide eyed look and back at Ayame who nods again. Naomi begins to put the mask on and the crowd is on their feet with a standing ovation. Ayame helps Naomi with the mask and finally, it's on. Jean grabs a house microphone.*
[MJC:] "The winner of this match and the one chosen to be Tigress Mask II, Naomi!"
*Naomi and Ayame hug in the ring and pose on all four turnbuckles waving to the fans. Finally they go backstage to massive standing applause.*
[John:] "Wow, Jean. That was really something!"
[MJC:] "Ayame told me about this when she was making her initial challenge. She said after all they had been through, Naomi had the spirit of the Tigress Mask. And if she could beat her, she would be next in line."
[John:] "That's really quite a moment in the careers of both women. Naomi is one of the few wrestlers to publicly put on a mask and assume that identity."
[MJC:] "Sometimes a mask isn't about concealing one's identity, but emphasizing it."
[John:] "Well said. And representing the lineage of that Tigress Mask is a big deal."
[MJC:] "Naomi now has a new set of challengs ahead of her, living up to and exceeding the history of that mask. And Ayame believes she can do it."
[John:] "This was the exact opposite outcome from the previous match between mentor and student."
[MJC:] "No barbed wire and fiery explosions, just pro wrestling and the passing of the torch."
[Luke:] "Just the right parts of pro wrestling."
[MJC:] "Exactly, Luke. Now we're gonna let the fans soak in the moment a bit longer. We'll be back after these commercials."
*We head to commercials giving us highlights of the Battle Formation show held in 2009. The commercial ends with the words:"'Man is destined for war. Our ring is destined to be their battlefield.' Universal Battle League. Kirin Dojo. Battle Formation 2011: Coming this Spring to a theater of war near you."*
[John:] "Wow, that's some big news. Battle Formation 2 coming in 2011."
[MJC:] "Hopefully UBL wrestlers are healthy enough to compete at that show!"
[John:] "That is a legit concern. Luckily we have a big roster though. And if I remember, the last Battle Formation was actually the first public showcase of the Front Lines. So perhaps Battle Formation 2 will also offer opportunities to our younger and newer wrestlers."
[Luke:] "If I get in formation, do I get to sing one of those fun military songs?
[John:] "Uh..."
[Luke:] "I don't know what I've been told..."
[John:] "You can take that up with Drake."
[Luke:] "The gum under this desk is actually mold."
[MJC:] "It used to be gum but Figaro kept adding more gum to it and then well..."
[Luke:] "Time makes fools of us all, as a wise man once said."
[MJC:] "Yep."
[John:] "I uh...ok what's next?"
(Code: RN2-3C )
[MJC:] "Well hate to do this to ya UBL, but we got another OG-Joshi match coming up. And another chance to show the world what pro wrestling is really about. Only problem is, not everyone in this match may share that philosophy or goal."
[John:] "Considering what happened during the Battalion Finale with the male Dods, maybe you shouldn't be hyping this match just yet as representative of OG-Joshi."
[MJC:] "I think this will turn out all right, but we have the standard Dod disclaimer..."
[Luke:] "Or Dodsclaimer."
[MJC:] "That applies here. Jane and Polly have the chance to become the OG-Joshi Tag Team Champions and a Dod near gold is the most dangerous Dod of them all."
[John:] "Let's just hope there isn't any stray space capsules here or LRI members to help out."
[MJC:] "Well as I told Jane and Polly, if there are any shenanigans tonight, I will tear up their contracts. And at the very least, if they win with a tactic i don't approve of, I may just have them put their title on the line immediately after."
[John:] "The match tonight!?"
[MJC:] "Any time, John. If the Dods think they can push OG-Joshi around like they did to UBL, they've got another thing coming. But right now, their fight is with the Reed Sisters, the OG-Joshi Tag CHAMPIONS, and not little ole me."
[Luke:] "Us. Jean. Not with us. Any fight against you is a fight against me."
[MJC:] "Awwwe..."
[John:] "Ahem, very touching."
[MJC:] "Yeah, heart of a hero, that Luke. Anyway, The Reed Sisters have incredible momentum right now. From their break out moment against Crimson Mask and Lori Cuozzo back in February, to Harmony's incredible victory over Jane Dod and Kaori NiGHT, to beating J*NiGHT for the titles at Illumination, to beating Chanel and Lorelai at the November Voltage. They have gone undefeated, became Champions, and more importantly, acted like them. They are taking all comers, trying to help out any tension in OG-Joshi, and are becoming friends of mine. But above all, they are showing the world what OG-Joshi is about. I want you to look at that team and think they represent us to the fullest, much like Visper Karr does."
[John:] "And the Dods?"
[MJC:] "Jane and Polly have behaved better in OG-Joshi then the male Dods in UBL. I'll give them that. They also didn't cheat to get this Title shot. Jane Dod won a tag Battle Royale at Amplitude and faced J*NiGHT after Kaori won a tag Battle Royale at Voltage. The Dods beat J*NiGHT cleanly and earned this match. They also tried to cause some other trouble but I put a stop to that. Point being, when the Dods behave and focus on winning, they tend to do so. But they can become frustrated against tough teams and take shortcuts."
[John:] "That's kind of the Dod tendency in general. Jack Dod won plenty of matches in PW-W, EFW, and UBL cleanly. Very often he's more of a danger outside of a match but when he puts his head down and just focuses on wrestling or even brawling, he can win with a minimal disruption of the rules. And we all know Caleb Dod can just win by staring down his opponent due to his enormous size."
[MJC:] "Same here with Polly. She's a female hoss. The Dods outweigh the Reeds and have more experience then them. Jane Dod is a former EFW Women's Champion and Polly is a former PW-W Women's Champion. They work together extremely well, each have a defined and dominant style, and they know how to distract the referee. But there's one thing they didn't do. They didn't beat J*NiGHT when they were champions. J*NiGHT beat them at Renaissance to retain their titles, and then lost the titles to the Reeds. So the Reeds had some edge there, whether it was a style difference or more desire. Why did the relatively inexperienced Reeds beat J*NiGHT and the Dods couldn't? Maybe we'll find out tonight."
[John:] "Well this is the first Championship the Reeds tastes. But you said it yourself, the Dods are already quite accomplished and skilled. It may come down to hunger."
[Luke:] "Ask Matt Rivers. Have you seen who he's been beating durinng Orochi-O's TV? Did you see how close he came to winning us the match last night had Snake Mountain not cheated? Sometimes it's all about the hunger new wrestlers have. I know it, he knows it. The Reeds know it. It may not make us punch better but we'll punch harder because of it."
[MJC:] "Very well said, Luke."
[John:] "But perhaps the Dods are even more hungry after having been stopped in their initial Tag Title match. Sometimes it takes some resistance to make someone want it more. To make them feel like it means even more then they first thought. If the Dods now understand that, the Reeds may be in for some major problems."
[MJC:] "The Dods had a winning year overall, but they didn't enjoy quite as much success as the Reeds. And Jane even lost to Harmony in that triple threat Title match with Kaori. Had Jane won that match, it would have been the Dods facing J*NiGHT at Illumination and not the Reeds. So perhaps there's some jealousy or resentment there, something that will fuel the Dods to fight harder. But perhaps something that will give the Reeds more confidence."
[John:] "I think we're gonna find out now as the Dods are coming out and DO look incredibly focused."
[MJC:] "Jane isn't even jawing with the fans here, she's just marching to the ring. And Polly is doing the same, not stopping to do any cheerleader poses."
[John:] "And here come the Reeds and I gotta say, they're getting as much love from the crowd as anyone we've seen the last two nights. This is right up there with Naomi and Ayame's support from before, and the ovation both women in the Amplitude Title match got after it was over."
[MJC:] "They are interacting with the fans but this is normal for them. The fan energy gives them extra motivation rather then distracts them. They know that as representatives of OG- Joshi, the fans look up to them as role models. They accept that role, they relish it, and they give that attention and love right back to the crowd."
[John:] "And they do look quite ready. They don't appear to be intimidated by the Dods but they certainly don't look overconfident. Rather they are carefully getting into the ring so as not to be attacked before they are ready."
[MJC:] "Smart move."
[John:] "Both teams are in and here we go."
[MJC:] "OG-Joshi Tag Team Championship - who walks out of 2010 with them!?"
