OG-Joshi Amplitude: October 2010 - "Autumntude"
Location: The Amplitheater, Peter Venkman Memorial Arena, NY.
Capacity crowd here in the Amplitheater given the repercussions of the matches tonight. We have two #1 Contender encounters, one for the Tag Team Championship and the other, in the main event, for the Amplitude Championship.
Let's start off with newcomer Jeska Rose against a woman who is scheduled to be at OG-FPD Ragnarok, Ayame Yamato. She will be facing her student Naomi in what is probably the match on that show with the least tension in it. However, tonight's match will feature plenty of tension in the form of holds locked onto joints since both Ayame and Jeska are submission experts. Ayame comes down to the ring to applause, especially from Naomi who happens to be in the crowd. That girl may want to think about getting a BIT more competitive before their match! Next out comes Jeska who is looking incredibly focused. A good showing here against a succesful vet like Ayame would certainly get her noticed. Let's get to the match!
Match #1: Ayame Yamato vs. Jeska Rose
For the first few minutes, they appear to be mirror images of each other as they both elected to start the match using their considerable speed. Not only are these two girls experts in submissions, but Jeska has a lucha background and Ayama can work a fast paced junior style. The two light the place up with arm drags, dropkicks and other quick moving...moves that get the fans on their feet to start the show. However, as Ayame goes for an armdrag, Jeska quickly drops down into a lightning fast kimura hold! It looks like Jeska wanted to kick this match into a higher gear and keep Ayame on the ground. Or, at the very least, surprise her.
Jeska begins to work on Ayame's arms with a lot of joint snapping moves and further stretching. We can hear Naomi in the crowd cheering Ayame on (She may do the same thing in her match with Ayame!) and that helps to rally her. Ayame is able to reverse an attempted jujigatame and turn it into a painful looking ankle lock. Jeska grabs the ropes and retakes control. Ayame is not accustomed to facing someone else who is as skilled as her and as quick. 'Shino' was the former but not the latter. Jeska is really making an impression here, but Ayame's expression doesn't show any signs of panic. Instead, she capitalizes on a missed dropkick by Jeska and goes back to the assault on her lower leg.
We've seen Ayame win her last few matches with radically different focuses on her opponents' body. It shows how versatile her submission game is. Jeska may not have expected this range from her and tried to just take her arms away after seeing how much Ayame used them against Shino. Ayame has now put on a number of different moves, including moves done by her legs, designed to weaken Jeska's legs and, as a result, reduced her speed as well. Jeska's legs being worn down isn't just keeping her grounded but also taking away the leverage she needs to defend submissions and properly apply her own. This is seen when Jeska reverses Ayame's jacknife pin, after a dropkick, and tries to apply a triangle choke but her legs are no longer strong enough to hold Ayame in place. Instead Ayame grabs Jeska's right leg and drops down into a heel hook! Jeska isn't close enough to the ropes and has no choice but to tap! Ayame has won this with her ingenuity, determination, and focus.
Ayame Yamato (O) [Heel Hook - 12:10] (X) Jeska Rose
The fans appreciate the efforts of both women here, and Ayame pats Jeska on the back and shakes her hand.
Next we have a tag match pitting two rivals against each other. Heather Heaton of Gen X and Firefly have traded wins over the last few months. Heather won the first match via Firefly's own back rolling neck lock and Firefly won the second by amazingly reversing Heather's Complete Shot into a surprising Gannosuke Clutch. They are hoping to have a tiebreaker match but, for now, Coach Carter has placed them into a tag match. Heather has chosen her Gen X teammate, Rachel Sky, to tag with her. H was supposed to back up Firefly but due to the Deities attack on H at Voltage, Juli Tanaka has been chosen to fill her place here so that H can heal properly.
Firefly and Juli Tanaka come out first, the two discussing strategy. It's possible the two haven't had as much time to prepare due to the late replacement. Heather and Rachel come out next and Rachel is ecstatic to be teaming with her friend here. Heather is thoroughly enjoying the cute look on Rachel's face and trying to discuss teamwork in a more 'physical' way then Firefly and Juli. Rachel blushes as the match begins and Heather lightly pats her on the ass for support.

What a finish! Heather and Firefly traded finishers there but it was Firefly who was able to keep Heather down. Cutting off the ring and keeping Heather in Firefly's corner certainly helped; As did that incredibly strong Mayan Suplex. You also have to hand it to Rachel Sky and Juli for backing up the two rivals in this match. This being Rachel's second only OG-Joshi match, she continues to impress. But she was tested by Juli Tanaka who wanted to see what this fresh-faced rookie could do. Judging by their expressions afterward, Juli was impressed.
Juli Tanaka/Firefly (O) [Mayan Suplex - 28:27] (X) Heather/Rachel Sky
Apparently Firefly thought that Heather had kicked out and that is why she hit the Mayan Suplex again after the bell. She apologized to all parties involved. Heather and Rachel go backstage, looking a bit dejected that they lost but trying their best to look upbeat.
Speaking of upbeat, Lina is out next and the L-Section just about loses their voices all screaming her name!! It's like a million smark voices have screamed out at once, and Lina felt the force of its desperation. She sighs, puts her ear plugs again, and walks to the ring while shaking hands with some more mild mannered fans and some children. This attention on the other fans seem to drive the L-Section fans even crazier and one large fan takes off his shirt to reveal a tattoo of Lina's entire (thankfully clothed) body on his stomach, Unfortunately for Lina, as much as she may want to now, it's not safe to wear a blindfold in the ring to match her ear plugs.
Minerva comes out next and looks to be all business. She hasn't gotten the attention she demands yet and looks to take it out on one of Amplitude's most popular wrestlers. Minnie is also looking extremely stylish in new attire!
Let's get to the match! (and ignore that it's been going on for 24 seconds already!)
Match #3: Lina vs. Minerva
Lina and Minerva go the opposite way of the Ayame and Jeska. Rather then dazzling the audience with high flying, they begin laying into each other with punches and kicks. Although there was no ill will between these two, its clear that both know what the other is capable of. And like Jeska did before, Minerva hopes to get a big Goose feather in her cap by beating or at least being competitive with one of the stars of Amplitude, Lina.
After Lina gets the better of the brawling, Minerva immediately thumbs her in the eye. The L-Section fans go nuts as if their own eye was thumbed! (and some of them look like that would be the most action they'd have gotten in years. Some hot eye-thumbin'). Lina is temporarily blinded. And due to her ear plugs, caused by the extremely loud noise from the fans, Lina can't hear Minerva running the ropes and is unable to defend against a huge lariat! Of course, this makes the fans even louder with rage and Lina, still partially blind, is practically helpless here. Even if she wasn't wearing ear plugs, its doubtful she could hear anything besides the fans roaring with displeasure at Minerva's...rather legal followup moves. Lina's head was knocked against the mat pretty hard by that lariat and she's clearly dizzy and still unable to see. Minerva laughs at this situation and starts taunting the fans with a little hip dance. I'm sure her husband Athrin Kazama, of UBL, is enjoying this.
Lina gets a 'lucky' break as Minerva chooses to grapple with her next, rather then continue striking. As a result, Lina gets a hold of Minerva and desperately throws her between the ropes to the floor. This allows Lina some time to get her vision back. Minerva isn't getting back in right away, though. Rather she appears to be jawing with a fan in a Lina t-shirt. It appears to be one of the fans dressed similarly to the rest of the L-Section fans. It appears they came all the way down to the floor to yell at Minerva! Once Lina regains her vision, she sees the new scene in front of her. She is getting very irritated and goes outside to try to stop this exchange. But Minerva sees it coming and floors Lina with a turning roundhouse kick to the face.
As Minerva is focused towards Lina, the fan jumps the railing! He jumps onto Minerva's back trying to take her down, but she backs up hard against the ring post crushing him. The ref immediately calls for the bell and another fan, dressed similarly to the first one joins in to try to take Minerva down. He yells: "This is for blinding Lina" but before any damage can be done to Minerva, a furious Athrin runs down the ramp and absolutely decimates the second fan with a lariat of Rage!! In a grisly scene, the fan actually vomited in mid air due the force and torque of the lariat. The first fan sees this, gets the fear of the demon in his eyes, and the fear of the demon STAIN in his pants, and tries to run but Athrin grabs his hair and throws him face first into the metal ring post!! Athrin helps Minerva up and the two march out. Lina has no idea what to do and just walks back up the stage as the L-Section fans boo Athrin but cheer Lina. This...just got out of control.
Lina (X) [Disqualification - 9:12] (O) Minerva
*We take a brief intermission here to sort things out. Security, and not the medics, take the two unconscious fans and presumably give them "the help they need". A stern warning is issued to all of the fans, especially in L-Section as to what happens if they interfere in the action. In fact Genji Security says outright that Athrin and Minerva will not be punished as they were just responding to the aggression from those two fans. Once things are a bit calmer, we get back to the show.*
And we do so in style as the winners of the next match will challenge the Reed Sisters for their OG-Joshi Tag Team Championships at Voltage. The losers of this match will get a chance to challenge for the Titles too, but not til after Ragnarok. So the winners here get the chance to win the Title and take it to the biggest show of the year. And who they defend it against at Ragnarok will be determined at Voltage as well. But that is thinking too far ahead as first they have to win tonight and then beat the Reed Sisters who have a great run of momentum right now.
Both Team Chuu Chuu and the team of Chanel/Lorelai are relatively new faces on the Tag Team Title scene but they have each earned their presence in different ways. Chanel and Lorelai defeated former long time Tag Champs J*NiGHT on Amplitude a few months ago. That was the biggest win of their OG-Joshi career so far. And Lorelai also gained a number of eliminations at last month's Voltage Battle Royale. As for Team Chuu Chuu, both members managed to be the last one eliminated for each Battle Royale, and gained some eliminations as well. Let's see which team can eliminate the other one here.

What a way to end this match! After both sides tried unsuccessfully for flash pins, Chanel put the match away with her finisher!! Lorelai did her damage as well with her Cerberus Driver. She may have even taken the victory had she gone to the third level of it. Meanwhile Chuu Chuu put up what was perhaps their best match ever in OG-Joshi, even if it resulted in a loss. They showed resilency and some great teamwork. And they will get the first shot at the Tag Team Champions after Ragnarok. It may even be a rematch of tonight if Chanel and Lorelai are able to win two matches in a row: Once against the Reeds, and then against the winners of the #1 Contender match at Voltage. The Tag Team scene has really picked up!
Team Chuu Chuu (X) ["Jade Fusion" - 26:36] (O) Chanel/Lorelai
As Chuu Chuu walk backstage, they are "greeted" by Sako and Hae-Won who mock them for losing. However they didn't count on Lorelai and Chanel to back up Chuu Chuu! Not wanting to face a two on four, Sako and Hae Won slowly back up while taking note of Chanel and Lorelai's participation here. Lorelai locks eyes with Hae Won and its lucky we have the main event coming up and security coming to clear thee women out or else we may get a brawl right here.
And now it's time to decide who gets to go to Ragnarok to face Eris Byrne, the OG-Joshi Amplitude Champion: A Title she earned by beating Jenna Stone in a tournament where Jenna advanced past Gutter thanks to the interference of Judy Bones. After what we saw earlier with Lina's fans, security is at an all time high inside the arena. This unnamed narrator doesn't expect anyone to be able to interfere, and our kind is never wrong. We see all.
Gutter comes out first and walks down to the ring. She is soon followed by the always-energetic Jenna Stone who half-runs down the ramp and up the ring steps, making a standing jump from the apron, over the ropes and into the ring. Our referee, Mary, goes through the traditional pre-match check, directs each woman to her corner, and goes to call for the bell..
"Hold it!"
*Gutter and Jenna turn to the ramp and the AmpliTron, where Eris Byrne has just appeared on the screen, a satisfied smirk on her face.*
[Eris:] "You know, when I first heard of this match I wasn't impressed.
Jenna? You got a free ride to your last title shot, and I beat you at Illumination.
Gutter? Shouldn't you be worried about old friends looking for you lately?
Come to think of it, perhaps both of you should."
*Eris shrugs*
[Eris:] "I could think of worthier opponents. Women who have proven that
they can take me to the limit. Women who aren't good friends with the
powers that be..."
*Eris pauses, as if considering her options.*
[Eris:] "Very well... let your inevitable defeat at my hands be the prize you
fight for, like good little gladiators. Fight for the entertainment of
your goddess, and try not to disappoint me. Start the match!"
*The AmpliTron flickers out with a dismissive wave from Eris as the bell
rings, Gutter and Jenna turning to face each other as the match begins*

And Gutter has earned herself her first shot at the Amplitude Championship! What a match we had here with Jenna making a comeback and getting to hit her two Powerstone variations, Driver and Bomb. And for Gutter to kick out of those, miraculously, showed the passion she has to keep on fighting. Jenna looked shocked that Gutter did exactly that and finally took the match with her Mad Splash, the move we saw her beat Cynthia San Martino with last year. You gotta hand it to both girls here for their efforts in this match. And now, Gutter is headed to Ragnarok against Eris Byrne.
Jenna Stone (X) [Mad Splash - 15:43] (O) Gutter
And folks, that's it for Amplitude shows for 2010! We'll see you at Voltage next month and maybe an O's TV or two. Ragnarok is right around the corner! Go to their house in a few days since I hear they have good candy!
