Re: Renaissance, the future
I'd like to start this report by giving an update on Azumi Oonishi's condition. Miraculously she only suffered a broken back and a badly sprained neck. Horrendous injuries that could have been far worse. She will wrestle again, by her own words, and we hope that by the time she is back, there will be no wrestlers left on this roster of the type that sent her and many others to the hospital. I have also promised Azumi a future shot at a #1 Contenders match as she had that opportunity taken away for the time being.
As for Nicole Dramesi, now that Holly is no longer the Champion, our deal is over. What you do to her is your own business. But if you interfere on my shows, you will be forcing my hand and those of my compatriots. Threatening wars on those uninitiated is one thing, but we've had our share. And we don't lose.
Visper Karr is our new OG-Joshi World Champion.
I rehearsed saying that line for over a year and it is quite fulfilling for it to grace this official document. She has had a long road to a World Title and earned her progress every step of the way. From her training with Jo Ryder and Twinky McLanahan to winning the McPro Globally Honored Pants to finally being the one to not only decisively end Holly's year long undefeated streak, but take the Championship at the same time.
Geese has refused to give me an update on Holly's physical condition. But it was clear that she had passed out and sustained injuries to her upper shoulder and neck area from the perfectly legal offense that Visper Karr used. I am guessing Holly's mental state is far worse then her aches and pains to which I can only say - if her head was in the right place before and during the match, it wouldn't hurt so much after it.
Kat Black is our new #1 Contender.
"Purple and Black" apparently are the new colors of success in OG-Joshi, if Kat and Visper's attires are any indication. Renaissance was exactly what I had hoped it to be. Not only did we get a true champion, but her first challenger is as pure as she is. Kat Black has worked through adversity for years. From her unfortunate exit from Dragon Isle Joshi at the hands of her former friend, to entering OG-Joshi with suspicion around the time Crimson Mask debuted. And finally, to withstanding Mr. Figaro's commentary.
But Kat rose above it all, including challenges in LAWL, and finally earned her first shot at the OG-Joshi World Title. A shot I believe she is more then ready for and one that I would not be surprised to see her make good on. But as focused as she is on winning the title, Visper is equally on keeping it. What makes this so unique for OG-Joshi is that neither wrestler will stoop to unethical means to achieve their purposes.
J*NiGHT had an especially impressive match against the Dods. Many have been calling it the match of the night from an in ring perspective and I can not argue with that. Kaori NiGHT showed why she is one of the best closers in the business and Jenny McLanahan continues one of the strongest years of any career. If there is anyone who doubts that she will beat Holly and retain her LAWL OMG Title, I question your sanity.
The Reed Sisters have earned a shot at the Tag Titles and I intend to use the upcoming shows to give them further tag competition on their way to the Championship match. So I hope Voltage talent welcomes them onto the show by testing them in the ring and being respectful out of it.
A number of people asked me a poignant question after Renaissance. To paraphrase - 'If Renaissance represented an awakening for OG-Joshi, a new sunrise, then why was there such a storm after the show?
The short answer - the Earth's weather patterns don't revolve around pro wrestling.
The long answer - While crowning a new Champion and #1 Contender of merit was necessary, it was not enough. There is no other way it could have started, but it was not ALL that needed to be done to fully transition into our new era. As long as Holly and women like her are in positions of power and influence in this promotion, we can't escape the clouds that have cast a pall on OG-Joshi since it's beginning.
By all means should we celebrate the momentous steps we have made this week, but we still have much work to do. If I am correct, the guardians of the old Dark ages will not be so willing to give up their remaining power. And so we must take the final steps in ripping it from their hands: but by our methods, not theirs, so that a true sunrise can emerge from the clouds above. That means continuing to give your all in the ring in pursuit of being the best for competition sake, and it means protecting those who are in danger. But even with good intentions, that protection must not be abused as it has been in the past.
I will be posting the schedule for upcoming shows shortly. I want to give the wrestlers as much possible time to synthesize and register their reactions to the show. I will be specifically attuned to any challenges or requests for rematches. So let your thoughts be known and consider how best you can all bring us into the new era while asking yourselves if you are personally ready for the next challenges in your careers. Visper Karr and Kat Black always aim high in their goals and means. You would all be wise to do the same.
