Haley Cannon was born in rural Lancashire, England in 1978. From an
early age, she was very athletic, participating in gymnastics, sports
and even ballet. She excelled in all of these endeavors, due to her
determination, confidence and self-motivation.
At the age of 12, Haley was doing a family history project for school,
and discovered that one of her blood ancestors, Thomas Cannon, was once
the British National Wrestling Champion. She discovered that he used a
very old style of wrestling called "Lancashire Catch", that had been
practiced for hundreds of years by the men of Lancashire County. This
inspired Haley to research the history of Lancashire catch, professional
wrestling in England, and professional wrestling in general.
A new world was opened to Haley. She became entranced by the world of
wrestling and competitive fighting. She began watching and attending
events in wrestling, kickboxing and shoot fighting. Before long, she had
decided to become a part of this newfound interest. Haley began
training in Lancashire Catch wrestling, with cross training in Combat
Sambo and Savate. By the age of 14, Haley was participating in junior
Freestyle Wrestling, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and Sambo competitions. At age 18,
Haley began participating in small, amateur mixed martial arts venues.
And at 21, she started competing in independent professional wrestling
promotions in the United States and Japan. Her grace, tenacity and
technique overwhelmed opponents who were always bigger and stronger than
she.
In 2005, the opportunity of a lifetime presented itself to Haley. She
discovered that the lucrative OG-FPD promotion was starting a women's
division and was looking for talent. Haley jumped on this opportunity
and was granted a spot on the Joshi roster by OrochiGeese himself.
Haley faces a challenge in professional wrestling. The tradition of
Lancashire Catch wrestling is that only submission or knockout shows
true victory over an opponent. Pins mean nothing in Lancashire Catch
competitions. Haley Cannon's ring philosophy reflects this historical
tradition. She has only one pin in her entire moveset, and it is very
rare that she ever uses it. She also does not believe that she has
truly lost if she has been pinned for a 3 count, even if the rules of
the promotion state that a pin counts for a victory. She considers it
an unfinished match.
Titles Held: OG-Joshi World Championship
